Description

S14 TS?

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: S14.

Serial number is: TS number not allocated.

Last Inspected on: No data.

Elevation is: 128 metres.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

Another trig spotted while wandering around the accessible areas of Warragamba Dam on a Saturday morning. It's interesting where I thought a trig was from a distance but when I got closer it wasnt where I thought at all. Happy to spot this one. TFTT

Found this morning from our nearby camp. We are here for a family reunion organised by a cousin from Perth whose dad worked on the construction of the dam way back when! Aunty still lives in their original home. We had a great time trying to track down more of these virtual caches. So different from what I remember from my visits here as a kid.

#GA1360 - 12:32; Doing the 'Tour de Wollondilly' with Sol de lune and andrewbt to collect a few trigs and other bits and pieces. We had now reached Warragamba Dam, where we hoped to bag a dozen or so trigs. Unfortunately the viewing platform was as close as we could get today, so we only wound up with six finds. Looks like a trip back on a weekend when it is possible to get down along the dam wall. This trig is number 400 for me too!

We did identify what seem to be two unpublished trigs (Prang Point and what could be S13). In the process it seems others may be incorrectly claiming what I think could be S13 as Pole Point and the real Pole Point as S27. Might be worth checking out. On a day trip to Warragamba to check out the trig situation with Luckyl10n and AndrewBT. Had an interesting time sorting which trig was which and after a check of the six website (https://maps.six.nsw.gov.au) we think we may have identify a couple of new/other ones. Have decide to only log the ones we are sure of, and will come back on a weekend when we can walk across the dam wall to check out the others.

This one is all good......

On a mild, but misty mid-winter day...I came a photographed some trigs. I know I have done some of these before...but which ones?

On a fine Sunday afternoon I planned a trip to Warragamba dam to chase trig points knowing that on the weekend and public holidays there is pedestrian access out to the wall and picnic area on the eastern side of the main spillway.
The sixth of several snapped today.

Out to Warragamba Dam with rogerw3 and pjmpjm for a walk around and, as it proved, a handful of near and distant(monitoring) trigs circling the dam. S14 discovered, a distance across from the public viewing platform.
