Description

Wagga Wagga EDM Testline - PM58019

The Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2012 requires surveyors to verify their Electronic Distance Measuring (EDM) equipment in relation to the State Primary Standard of measurement, in the form of pillared testlines or baselines, at least once each year and immediately after service and repair.

The Wagga Wagga EDM Testline is a set of five trig points: PM58019-PM58022 and TS Tolland. The distance between the first and last one is 534.995 meters +/- 0.6 mm.

This information was obtained from http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/surveying/surveying_services/edm_baseline_certificates.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and/or yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The second one tackled in this testline series today.
The graffiti artists had been busy here and so as not to be too confused when adding the photos to these I made sure the nearby water tank was in the photo too.
Noticed a bitumen road nearby so I guess there was an easier way to get here than the way I came.
Thanks.

Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1265 - 14227 overall cache finds.

Found while on a caching run with Sol de Lune and LuckyL10n in the Wagga Wagga region. While I mainly looked for GC caches, when an easy GCA cache comes along we go for that as well. Trigs are particularly nice to track down and find. I was very happy when they became part of the GCA cache family. Its especially satisfying if you have made a big climb up for one ! I have also now joined dragonZone in Clan Cerberus, so there are more reasons to find those GCA caches. Its interesting to find the many different types of trigs. From the traditional metal legs and vanes, to the concrete base with vanes, to the ones on top of water tanks (especially the red ones !), as well the new CORS type. When you look on a GCA map and see all those hundreds and hundreds of blue 'Z's it shows just how many there are out there. Shame so many are on private property and cannot be accessed at all. So as far as I'm concerned every trig that can be found and photographed is a real bonus !

The trig was quickly 'found'. Piccie taken and posted. A nice run of trigs in this area - happy about that !

Thanks Geocaching Australia !

#GA1347 - 10:21; Out on a caching mission with Sol de lune and fitzy_1965 in the Riverina. The major target for the day was a new power trail to the north of here, but we stopped for a few trigs and other GCA caches on our way through. Parked the geomobile and headed up the hill for the trig at the top and then down along the test line too. This was the last one before heading back to the geomobile via a couple of other caches. A day trip to Wagga with a LuckyL10n and fitzy_1965 to head along the new power trail, but before that we hit up a few of the trigs. Parked down on the road below and after a short climb, the trig was in the bag.....great to find another test line.

Found on this wet day, although it wasn't raining that much here. The rain waited for later caches and trigs to increase. The Murrumbidgee River is wide and fast at present, and rising. TFTC Team MavEtJu & Geocaching Australia.

When we arrived in Wagga Wagga we noticed the 4 EDM Testline markers and made time this afternoon to enjoy a walk in the area to locate them and take the required photos. t was cool but the breeze had dropped so we enjoyed the birds and the view as we headed up hill. Met a dogwalking muggle at the start but he was the only other person walking in the area.

Found after a sports carnival and a music lesson so I really needed to get in the peace and quiet and find an easy 'cache' in a beautiful setting. Lots of dog walkers about and then lots of runners about with compasses, tonight must have been an orienteering night. The trig point was easy to find and had fantastic views away from the sun. Lots of evening birds, lots of haze from all of the burning off made for a special relaxing time. Thanks GA for these cache.
