Description

Taree EDM Testline - PM58050

The Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2012 requires surveyors to verify their Electronic Distance Measuring (EDM) equipment in relation to the State Primary Standard of measurement, in the form of pillared testlines or baselines, at least once each year and immediately after service and repair.

The Taree EDM Testline is a set of four trig points: PM58047-PM58050. The distance between the first and last one is 515.039 meters +/- 0.5 mm.

This information was obtained from http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/surveying/surveying_services/edm_baseline_certificates.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Not wheelcahir accessable.

I spent a weekend caching in the mid north coast region with Fitzy_1965. After a night at the showground we emerged bright and early to visit these fore trigs in the local test line.

Thanks

First caches attempted today and had a scary moment approaching this one when we came to a low bridge with a clearance of only 10 cms more than the height of the van. Got through there without scraping although it looks like plenty haven't been as lucky. Pulled up above this one but could only see 3 of the 4 so we drove to the last one and dealt with that before returning to the parking closest to this one. Mr Beetle dropped me off to walk the line and then went and parked back at the bottom.
Doing it this way meant a nice easy walk downhill.
Thanks.

Another trig point to our finds. TFTC

#GA2676 - 08:25; Day four of the 2018 Oz GeoMuster mission with Sol de lune. After leaving the Mega yesterday afternoon and caching our way to Taree where we spent the night at a local caravan park, the plan for today was to cache our way north to Ballina in preparation for some caching around Byron and the Tweed before setting sail south again for home. Although not part of the original itinerary, I was able to collect a few more caches in Taree, which Sdl had picked up on previous visits, including this testline. This was the first of the four in the testline, which made for a pleasant walk through the vacant sporting fields this morning. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Arrived in the general area to find soccer practise in full swing, but no-one was concerned with me as I walk the trail to grab these 4 test line trigs. No problems and the photos were soon snapped.

Stopped by this evening to log a *FTF* on this trig that was published last night (when I was ON Call).
This white-painted concrete 'Hotine' pedestal, sitting on a metre square concrete base, has a black plastic cap on top, protecting the mounting plate. There is also a name plate on it on the western side.
Found at 1708, 24/4/16; never knew it was here, despite living/working in Taree for the past 19 years.
