Description

Taree EDM Testline - PM58047

The Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2012 requires surveyors to verify their Electronic Distance Measuring (EDM) equipment in relation to the State Primary Standard of measurement, in the form of pillared testlines or baselines, at least once each year and immediately after service and repair.

The Taree EDM Testline is a set of four trig points: PM58047-PM58050. The distance between the first and last one is 515.039 meters +/- 0.5 mm.

This information was obtained from http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/surveying/surveying_services/edm_baseline_certificates.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Sign, on eastern side of the yard states: "ACCESS TO SURVEY CALIBRATION STATION, PHONE MID COAST WATER 6592 4801."

This one took us a. it longer than the average test line trig as we initially tried to be clever and drove in from the wrong side. We briefly contemplated driving through the staff only gate. After all, as the younger one pointed out "you are staff somewhere"

In the end we headed back to the sports field and found it from that side.

GCA 4,363. Found with albida33 as we wandered headed up the coast caching.

After staying overnight at the Showgrounds we grabbed these 4 Trigs in the test line to start the day off.

TFTC !!

I spent a weekend caching in the mid north coast region with Fitzy_1965. After a night at the showground we emerged bright and early to visit these fore trigs in the local test line.

Thanks

ed it at first but soon saw it in the locked up compound.

Taree is a great place to stop for trigs!

Did this one first and then drove back to the first and walked back down.
This one is in a council yard and therefore our photo is taken through the fence. The trig marker does blend in a bit with the trucks parked nearby so I tried to make it just above Mr Beetle's hand in the photo.
Thanks, a nice easy testline to access.

Another trig point to our finds. TFTC

#GA2679 - 08:33; Day four of the 2018 Oz GeoMuster mission with Sol de lune. After leaving the Mega yesterday afternoon and caching our way to Taree where we spent the night at a local caravan park, the plan for today was to cache our way north to Ballina in preparation for some caching around Byron and the Tweed before setting sail south again for home. Although not part of the original itinerary, I was able to collect a few more caches in Taree, which Sdl had picked up on previous visits, including this testline. This was the last, and least accessible, of the four in the testline, which made for a pleasant walk through the vacant sporting fields this morning before reaching the fence! Arrived in the general area to find soccer practise in full swing, but no-one was concerned with me as I walk the trail to grab these 4 test line trigs. This was a bit of fun with the trig in behind the fence. No problems and the photos were soon snapped.

The last one of the four and 40 metres was as close as I could get before bumping into a fence.

Not too much of a telephoto shot needed to be taken to log a *FTF* on this trig that was published last night (when I was ON Call).
This concrete 'Hotine' pedestal, sitting on a metre square concrete base, has a short cylindrical plastic post/cap on top. There is also a name plate on it - visible from the west.
Found at 5pm, 24/4/16; never knew it was here, despite living/working in Taree for the past 19 years.
I will try to get permission from Mid Coast Water to get a closer photo of the name plate of this particular 'trig' after the ANZAC holiday.
