Description

Bankstown EDM Testline - PM58058

The Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2012 requires surveyors to verify their Electronic Distance Measuring (EDM) equipment in relation to the State Primary Standard of measurement, in the form of pillared testlines or baselines, at least once each year and immediately after service and repair.

The Bankstown EDM Testline is a set of four trig points: PM58055-PM58058. The distance between the first and last one is 605.010 meters +/- 0.5 mm.

This information was obtained from http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/surveying/surveying_services/edm_baseline_certificates.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and/or yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Was this way today so taking the short detour to complete these 4 off trigs in a nice park – parked in carpark & did the walk from the end of oval back to carpark & around road education centre onto last trig which is a little hidden then onto this trig which is next to fence – many thanks Clan Griffin

Out on a caching run today around the Bankstown Area and decided to focus on trig points. This was the fourth of seven trig finds this morning for the journey or destination game.

Decided to target this nice cluster of trigs on the Bankstown testline. I parked in Buist St and was pleasently surprised at the nice park that greeted me. This was the last trig to find in this series and I thought I might be out of luck with the area being fenced off but lucky for me the fence was ajar and I could cautiously approach the trig. I did not get as close to this one as the others, as I could hear noises from over the hill so I kept my distance. Some slightly longer distance photos than usual were taken before I snuck back to the right side of the fence. Interesting how close this one is to someones back fence! Almost a backyard trig.

Thanks for the cache Geocaching Australia

Hoping this find will move me one step closer to the destination, be that either the blue tile or my goal of 100 trigs!

#GA1326 - 17:30; Day 3 of a caching mission in and around Sydney with Sol de lune. We had landed in Bankstown and our second testline for the day. This one was a bit shorter than the earlier one in Blacktown, but we adopted a similar approach, parked at one end and wandered along. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

This one became my second of the series, and wouldn't you know it, there was a real life surveyor going about his business! But I fear that I ended up talking his ear off about geocaching and trig points and survey markers that it was messing with his calculations. We had a chat about the test line and he said that they bring newly re-calibrated machines out here to make final fine turnings as all machines need a bit of tweaking. I had so many questions but he had colleagues waiting for him down the line so I left him in peace and headed on to the next marker.

Found while in the area started from this end and worked my way to the top taking photos along the way, thanks for the trig
