Description

Dubbo CORS

CORS (Continually Operating Reference Stations) collecting geodetic data from GNSS. Information regarding CORS including a picture of the receiver can be found on the Land & Property Information site (a NSW Government Service) via http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/surveying/corsnet-nsw/network_information To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the CORS, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the CORS. This oversized mushroom can be seen from across the road and down on the corner of the main street. It cannot be seen at night as I sadly discovered on Geocaching in Australia's birthday. :)

While staying in nearby Narromine we wandered around central Dubbo this morning heading for some of the many GCA caches to be found.
We could see this trig through our binocs much further down the street but didn’t have a good enough camera to show it from so far away. Instead the trig is situated about half way between the two satellite dishes on the roof in the pic we have included. Confused

Many thanks for the trig Geocaching Australia Clapping

This one was a little difficult to spot. Mr Shifter had to stand on something on the street and while he was up there the police drove past and were watching us carefully, we expected them to come back and talk with us bet we didn't see them again.

#GA1643 - 15:05; Day 30 of the Alice Mega Road Trip with Sol de lune, albida33 and fitzy_1965. Today was a shorter run from Nyngan to Nevertire, Warren, Trangie, Narromine and on to Dubbo before heading to Parkes for the night. Sdl and I decided to spend the rest of the day in and around Dubbo and left our fellow cachers in Narromine. After picking up a few trigs around the outskirts, we were now headed into suburbia and picking up a few more caches, including a stack of virtuals. This one took a bit of work to find a place at street level where you could actually see the CORS. Made it in the end though and got the required snap. Could only see it from our hotel! Pic is a crop from Dads below....

Tricky.... We couldn't see this one from street level. Then we figured, why not have a look out our hotel room back window, which is more elevated.... wouldn't you know! Strapped on some nice Nikon glass to the DSLR, and I think a good result.....

Cairns 2016 trip. On the last day of my travels I was able to get one more trig. It was a bit hard to work out what was the actual CORS but I hope it is in the image somewhere.

Thanks

Struggled with the positioning of this one too. Our GPS indicated that it was 6 metres from the left hand front of the ABC building. We walked around where we could and on the right hand side of the building we found a loop that looked more like a transmitter than anything else we found. Have included a photo of the front of the building and one of the loop. Hope this will suffice. Thanks.

My 100th trig! Woohoo!

I was aiming to set this one up on Geocaching in Australia's birthday, however it was to dark to see the CORS. I could have held off and used this for retaining Griffin DragonZone control should it be taken over. But, who cares. Consider found. Smile
