Description

Mark number: TS 6697
Monument type: CONC PILLAR
Trig name: ROBINSON

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

We stopped for any trigs within a reasonable drive/walk on our drive from Dubbo to Bourke. Check out the mine lookout while you're here.

A few things to log up here. TFTC.

Quite a few caches at this Interesting location. I got as close as possible for the shot but the trig still looks a long way off. Lucky the stand is recognisable as there's no vanes on the trig.

Another trig off the list.

Was worth the visit up the hill here.

Glad to get some good photos too.

#GA5372 - 10:48; Day two of a mission through the Central West of New South Wales with Sol de lune to grab some of the dragonZones to our west was now underway after overnighting in Lake Cargelligo. Today's travels took us from Lake Cargelligo past Murrin Bridge, into Cobar, Bourke, Brewarrina, Walgett and on to Carinda to overnight. We collected finds in Lachlan, Cobar, Brewarrina and Walgett dragonZones and counties along the way. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Out on a road trip with LuckyL10n to grab a few dragonZones in outback NSW that we still had to visit including Bland, Carrathool, Lachlan, Cobar, Brewarrina, Walgett, Coonamble as well as grabbing a few caches in previously visited zones. A fun 3 days with over 2200 klms notched up along the way. A visit to the little town of Carinda which is famous for a visit by David Bowie to record a film clip for one of his single releases, was a bit of a highlight. A neat pub with great food and a good sort of atmosphere. Well worth the drive off the main road to check it out. At $55 a night the accommodation, while basic, was not too bad.

This was one of the many trigs we found while out and about. No issues here and the required photo was soon snapped.

Thanks for another trig.... Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy

West New South Wales trip 2020. Day 2. I was joined by MinnieK and Fitzy_1965 for a trip planned to go from
Goulburn to Forbes, Nyngen, Cobar, Broken Hill, Wentworth and Balranlad. After a sleep in we left our overnight
stop at Warren and headed to Cobar via Nyngen. There were a few caches along the way, but most of the action
was the Australian Towns series North of Cobar, and a great selection of local caches. The two Earth caches
were the highlight.

The Fort Bourke area was a highlight of this trip and it was a bit funny seeing this trig on the building here.

Thanks

High Cache density here. At 53m I got what I thought was the best angle. So many structures on the roof top.

I only realised this was here as we were driving away from everything else in the vicinity, but happy to get a photo of it before we left. There’s so much to see and do here, can’t wait to explore the rest of the area.
Thanks for the cache.

Earlier this year we headed to Brisbane for our niece's wedding. As we hadn't been to Burke we decided to go via Burke, Lightning Ridge including Cobar on our route picking up as many caches as we were able to. We enjoyed the many places we visited and found a few spots well off the normal route that we would not have visited if we had not been hunting for caches. Trig Points come in many varied forms. We particularly enjoy the older versions that usually involve longish walks in steep areas. Most have excellent views over the country side. The old stone cairns are particularly nice to find. These often have plaques attached giving details of when, who and why they were placed.

This trig point is part of the communication towers on the hill so although it is not particularly beautiful there are very good views of the area from here and from the nearby viewing platform. There are also other caches close by.

A photo of one of us at the communication centre showing the trig plinth has been added to this log.

After settling into the caravan park this afternoon, we made our way here to take in the views and some caching. TFTC

Would you believe. As I pulled up here today, I noticed a car at the building under this trig. I was about to go and see if I could go up top for a photo of the trig point when he came out, locked the fence gate, and no doubt, went to lunch. He left the doors open and the radio on but I didn't have time to hang around, so snapped this shot from the southwest.

Did the drive up to claim the 2 off trigs here – nice sunny day - thanks

Hard to get close to this one but it seems to be the white marker on top of the building. Fortunate to see a truck of ore coming up out of the mine while we were here. Thanks.

A concrete pillar trig on top of a building at the Fort Bourke Lookout. An easy find as it's right next to the car park.
