Description
Sooty Trig
This cache consists of the bronze survey plate precasted into a concrete block placed at ground level with no trig-station framework above.
The 'Triangulation Station' marker is what makes it a Trig Point, so it's added to the database.
Stamp ID: 69-207
Using the web-based "Survey Marks Enquiry Service (SMES)", the Mark and Alternative names have being acquired.
Dated: 14/07/69

Look for a metal pole with a orange painted top section as this will mark the location.
Logs
First for the day and the rain was getting heavier. Photo has not come out well.

This is my first GCA find and log.
I only joined out of curiosity.
I am 100% Aussie and love all things Australian but personally I think the GCA site takes away from the whole international experience created by Geocaching and I find the website awkward. I don't see myself actively pursuing these caches but I'll give it a fair trial.
As stated by the latest "finder" the pole is bent over but after a few seconds stomping within a foot of the pole I soon had the marker uncovered. Hopefully it stays uncovered for the next searcher.
Interesting to see as I would never know it was here otherwise.

#GA2163 - 14:25; Day two of a caching run through eastern Victoria with Sol de lune to build on our July trip further to the west. After a night in Traralgon, today sees us head through the Latrobe Valley, Baw Baw, South Gippsland and on to the Bass Coast before heading north through Cardinia, Yarra Ranges into Murrundindi and an overnight in Alexandra. After visits to Morwell, Moe, Darnum, Ellinbank and many kilometres of driving through roadworks, Wontaggi and Newhaven, we were now headed north and away from the coast. The name was a big attraction and we decided this one had to be on the 'to do' list for this trip. It seems there's been no shortage of rain in these parts and the trig marker here is also quite overgrown. Another photogenic post was a big help here. TFTC Geocaching Australia

Great name for a trig isn't it. Reminds me of all the times I heard and read about the Nar Nar Goon 3rds Aussie Rules team. Any one who in Melbourne during the 90's will have heard about them I'm sure.
As for the trig, the marker was buried, however the blue marker pole is still there proud as punch.

Quick drive by trig as we continue exploring the area.

Survey marker is located off "Seymour Rd" which is a good condition 2WD-gravel country road.
Park where you can find a spot (but take care to not get bogged if in a 2WD vehicle).
The marker was hidden with overgrown grass and it took a while to locate the marker, but perseverance prevailed. Mr. Green
Consider wearing gaiters as the long grass can hide some unexpected slithering surprises and a few strands of "Blackberry" to avoid.
(just something to be mindful if taking the kids along).
