A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point with yourself or your GPS (Or Both). You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Didn't realize this was a trig as was up there, as it didn't look like the trigs I am used to in NSW. It was only when I was logging a nearby cache that I was pointed out this was a trig. Luckily I made heaps of pictures as it is a great walk up here./

After a long spell of cold, rainy days we were glad to get some sun, so we spent the arvo in the Grampians today. The last time we took this track (a few years ago) it was raining and blowing a gale, so we never actually progressed to the summit. Today was sunny and not a breath of wind up here - amazing! The geo-missus hung back with the kiddies while I scrambled to GZ - the extra climb was not difficult and safe for the kids so I called them up & snapped this pic.

Oh dear, I never know whether it's strictly 'kosher' to log a visit to a trig point if the visit pre-dates the posting but here goes. (Am happy to post-date the 'visit' if necessary. Embarassed ).

Anyhoo, our monthly bushwalk back in '012 took us to the top of Boronia Peak on an absolutely glorious day. I spotted this unusual marker and had one of the other walkers take a shot of me in the usual 'trig point pose' at 14:20 just in case it hadn't loaded into the O3. As it turned out, it wasn't listed and I never got around to doing so. EmbarassedEmbarassed However, I recently noticed that it has subsequently been listed so I dug out the pickie and voila, here 'tis.

It truly is a magnificent walk to the top and the views are seemingly endless. Very Happy

Thanks Geocaching Australia.
