Description

Lawson TS5546

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Lawson.

Serial number is: TS5546.

Last inspected on: June 25, 1984.

Elevation is: 1031 meters.

This is a concrete pedestal with mast and vanes, it is on private property by can be sighted from the road.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

On a long day trip west today – this was a continuation of a caching run of about 2 weeks ago – pulled over & took the shots – didn’t pull out the binoculars but I’m happy with the photos – they turned out good. Many thanks again Clan Griffin

GCA 1782. Headed up to the Bathurst region on a caching run (again !!) with minniek.

First stop for the day is this Trig - we really enjoy finding these trigs scattered all over the countryside. Fairly easy to grab a decent photo(s).

TFTC !!

Headed out with fitzy_1965 for a day of caching around Bathurst and surrounds. This was our first trig for the day.

Abercrombie River area weekend. As I was traveling about I saw these three hills with trigs clear against the background, so as others have before me, I took an image from the road.

Thanks

I came across this one back in July while out plotting TRLT, but had no idea how to log it. I knew the gods of trig hunting would get to it soon enough, and now that they have...gotcha. Thanx R and R!

A long run on roads less travelled with rogerw3, heading towards Burraga ...

With coords in hand and a general indication of where to look, surprisingly Lawson trig was sighted from afar. Though it is inaccessible on private lands it it starkly silhouetted between trees on the hill.
