A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

WOW what can I say – this has been on my to do list for a long time – today was the day – this area has changed from last visitors – due to the hot-humid – wet summer & the recent floods this area like many others have become very bushy in the undergrowth area which made it tough the last 400 metres to trig – a bush bash / found track but its over grown. GZ was a challenge as with much leaf drop & sands / soil moved around due to the heavy rains we had. With 2 off GPS’s got there in the end – may I say I was seeing many things in the rock – in the end what is man-made got it. Many thanks for the GOOD co-ordinate’s.

out with Outdoornut22 we had only planned on finding 1 trig today. this one was pretty cool to find. We never knew this sort of trig existed before today thanks to the teams before us for identifying this one as I don't think we would have found it otherwise Very Happy

only one Trig on the cards for Sophoutloud and myself this afternoon. A pretty easy area to find and the coordinates were right on the money for the engravings on the rock, they look to have faded a bit since the last log in 2016. also about 20m to the west was a large rock cairn, unsure if this is anything to do with the trig or not. On a trig hunt day with rogerw3 with a couple of GA along the way ...

A park at the gate for the Left Arm Trail for an easy walk out along a well preserved and clear track. A single side track leads off to the trig as you near - but that is the extent of the ease of the search for Wonga. An extensive search was made across the rock platform at the general coords but it was not till a forlorn last look at the starting seek point that rogerw3 sighted the unusual. A remarkable find as this trig is but a sandstone engrave of small point triangles and hole. Unusual, and a unique one for the 'mushroom to log. Well worth the visit. SmileDancing

Another great easy walk with whitemushroom, while we knew the coords this almost eluded us, looking in an ever increasing circle as we were about to give up we went back to GZ and something under the litter caught my eye and a bit of sweeping and blowing of dirt revealed the carved trig in all its worn glory.
Well worth the search, not many around like this one.
