Description

PW220 TS10511

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: PW220.

Serial number is: TS10511.

Last Inspected on: No Data.

Elevation is: 0 metres.

Established by the Public Works Department for the Lake Hydro Survey as PW195.

Type: Concrete cylinder (approx 30 cm high) with a bronze triangle marker on top with 195 stamped on it. This cylinder sits in the water, just a metre from the shoreline.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape.
Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably.

With most of the clan heading down to Sydney to see the Gruffalo with Pop, Dad and one of the boys took the chance to mop up some of the trig points around the lake.

We continued scootering to this trig point despite a case of the death wobbles which resulted in the use of 11 separate bandaids.
Someone has hooked a plastic chairs in a tree near the trig point and there is a really awesome rock snake along the path to the north of the trig point. It would be close to 200m long st thus point. We will have to come back soon and add our own little bit of length to Rocko.

Was this way today for the funeral of my cousin – taken way to young – for me after service & wake I couldn’t just drive home – needed a trig or 7 to complete. Taken my sister along for the ride – my moto it’s not about the destination but the journey getting there.
A nice short walk to the point here – enjoyed the bird life here – many thanks

We were in the Budgewoi area caching today, so dropped in for this one. We did ride past here a few years ago, must have been prior to our trig finding days....

After my first run at San Remo parkrun, I went hunting for some local GC caches then had a suss for any GCA caches. Looks like this one was the only one in the immediate area. Had an easy stroll from parking at the bridge to find this old trig point. It was just a litle too far for me to jump onto without getting my feet wet, and I needed to go to work later in the day so took a photo from the shore. Lovely views along the water all the way around here. Thanks for the cache! Very HappyClan Cerberus

Found this one while up on the Central Coast buying a kayak...and geocaching. It sits on the north of Lake Budgewoi. This is easily accessed via the walking/cycling track.
