A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Took the geo-kids camping for the long weekend, with a little bit of caching along the way.

Fitzy_1965 continued down the road from Vulcan for this easy find. I thought we had been here before, but on reflection we must have been caching in the area and thought it was too far out of the way at the time. Not today, another trig down!

GCA 2,160. Found during a caching run with minniek and her geokids.

Grabbing a few local caches and we couldn't pass up the fun drive in through the forest for this one. Yet another easy Trig with so few visitors.

This is where the weather started to turn south for me today – as I travelled further east towards Yerranderie it was fogy & a light drizzle, in contrast when I pulled the pin and started to head home going toward Oberon it was sunny well overcast and not a drop of rain in sight. I had to take the photos in this direction as it was windy and it was blowing the light drizzle onto camera. thanks Clan Griffin

Mudgee trip for The Road Less Traveled series. Day 2. Bumeroo Ford to Sofala via lots of back roads and Kelso. I know I have been here before, so I am not sure why I have not logged the trig. I wonder what the fire lookout thought as I arrived, took a few images and left.

Thanks

After visiting the cemetery below drove up here to find the remains of the trig. Good views & beside a fire tower which given the heat & fire warning, was manned. Hard climb I'd reckon. Photo to follow.

On the road to the Goulburn Streamliners with rogerw3 ...

A minor detour off Shooters Hill Rd to the firetower ... and a trig passed in the morning light. There it is, a bit decrepit but still standing with half vanes, wooden 'engraved' mast and a crumbling rock pile. A sentinel holding its own and well worth the stop.

Found today with whitemushroom on our way to Goulburn for the Streamliner 2016 train event.

An easy find, sad to see it so damaged but it is still standing, at least for now.

While out looking for a Star Trek themed cache, I saw Tower Road and made an assumption that a trig might be near a fire tower. I was very surprised to find an old mast with just one vane attached. The others are lying around the stone cairn. There are some letters engraved in the mask. Could these be initials of the people who erected this trig? Elevation according to two online sources is 1360m.
