A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to. These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

I spotted this unlisted trig and was about to list it but was pipped at the post - that's ok saved me the effort Laughing and I thought I had previously logged this trig, hmmmmm, appears to not be the case; maybe I looked at the page so long that thought I had logged it. Done now and just when it was needed. DancingDancing

#GA2916 - 08:20; #GA2915 - 07:25; The original plan was to head west to collect a few zones for Sol de lune and I to complete the caching centroid mission, but with the announcement of 6x points, the plan was changed and we are headed to the Blue Mountains instead. I have driven past this trig numerous times, but the lure of extra points today made us stop off to grab a snap on the way past. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Driven past here half a dozen times since I was into trigs. Can't believe I didn't notice it.

It was easy enough parking nearby and getting a shot of this trig, not so easy to find a gap in the traffic and drive back on Neutral

An easy I to do from the side of HWY – it was more of a problem to get back into the heavy traffic today - thanks Clan Griffin

Have seen this many times on my way up and down the highway. Today was really the first opportunity to stop.

Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1280 - 14306 overall cache finds.

Found during a work trip up in the Penrith region. While I mainly looked for GC caches, when an easy GCA cache comes along we go for that as well. Trigs are particularly nice to track down and find. I was very happy when they became part of the GCA cache family. Its especially satisfying if you have made a big climb up for one ! I have also now joined dragonZone in Clan Cerberus, so there are more reasons to find those GCA caches. Its interesting to find the many different types of trigs. From the traditional metal legs and vanes, to the concrete base with vanes, to the ones on top of water tanks (especialy the red ones !), as well the new CORS type. When you look on a GCA map and see all those hundreds and hundreds of blue 'Z's it shows just how many there are out there. Shame so many are on private property and cannot be accessed at all. So as far as I'm concerned every trig that can be found and photographed is a real bonus !

The trig was quickly 'found'. Piccie taken and posted.

Thanks Geocaching Australia !

In the area for the Geocaching NSW annual invasion and headed out to try this one....which turned to be very easy to see from the side of the freeway. Photo was soon grabbed and I was off to try another one.

Thanks for another Trig......

I found and submitted this Trig on 26 September. I had spotted it a few times from the Sydney coach to Canberra and came back today to get the photo and make the find. Very surprised that it wasn't already listed. Took the photo from the highway as it looks like it is on private property. Lots of trigs around here - will have to come back to bag some more.
