Trig is a perfectly preserved cairn with mast and vanes.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Logs
A drive on Blackbutt Mtns Fire Trail with a park at the 'Dead End Road' sign for a enjoyable early morn walk uphill to the end of the dead end - and where it was discovered the next day the FT continued around to this point. A futher walk took us to point where it was into the lightly timbered bushland for a 60m relatively easy clamber on the hillside.
There in near as built pristine condition was Blackbutt, complete with vanes, wooden trig marked mast and a near perfect circular rock built cairn ... one vane reverse engraved with name. Set in thin gum forest it is easy to envisage the almost 360° view this mountain top originally had, with an extraordinary vista across the ways.
*Blackbutt was rogerw3's 800th trig find - it was mutually agreed this was indeed a fine sentinel for a milestone number.
The name for some reason is printed as a mirror image on the vane, the mast has a carved broad arrow indicating a trig.
The view must have been amazing from there when the trees had been cleared, but alas not so much today but the Trig was well worth the effort.
