Description
CORS (Continually Operating Reference Stations) collecting geodetic data from GNSS.
A CORS is a Continuously Operating Reference Station. CORS can take the place of a traditional base station used in differential GNSS positing. They can give an instant position to an accuracy of ± 20 mm and are used in many industries including Precision Agriculture, Construction, Mining, Surveying and in Scientific Research.
Typically, the maximum distance between a base station and rover GNSS set up is around 10 - 15 km. This is due to the effect of the atmosphere on the GNSS signals as they travel from the satellite to a GNSS receiver.
With the establishment of a network of CORS, the distance between the base and the rover can be extended. The CORS can be spaced around 70 km apart and using at least 3 of these CORS, the atmospheric effects can be modeled and corrected for, yielding the ± 20 mm position solution required by so many industries.
More info on CORS can be found here: CORS
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the CORS, along with your GPS and/or yourself. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the CORS.

Tassie Trekkers are now a locationless geocache we have published a 'Geocacher cache' - Travelling Trekkers GA10932 - so if you spot us in your area sign our log book and receive a code word to earn yourself a
We are on our way to the Alexandra Event which is happening on 18th-19th November 2017 hope to see you there.
All was running smoothly until the Christmas in July game was announced. We would be travelling in the latter part of the game. It was difficult to include this in our target caches as we did not know what was required. Once the game began and we understood what we needed to do we could then add other caches to the target list.
We were just getting our heads, yes all four of them, around this when more Dragon Zone trophies were added. Which ones could we meet and which should we ignore? Do we need to add more GA caches and/or do we need to change our route and our targets? We decided on our target list and then our route and timeline. We had just drawn a line under everything and were about to begin printing our caching booklets, route maps and target lists when caught@work published 23 new caches on the Western Ring Path. Earlier we had decided on the caches in the Edgewater Walk series. If we added the new ones on the Western Ring Path and as many of the CCC series as possible, we could probably reach the required number of caches to qualify for the Dragon Zone trophies “Restraining Order Stalker” (Find 100 DZ caches hidden by the same cacher) and “Obsession!=Insanity” (find 50 DZ caches in a day). As the latter would give us our first Blaze Trophy, it was decided to alter everything to include the CCC series.Four Fun, in South Australia published five puzzle caches that would bring good points in the Christmas in July game. Can we solve the puzzles? A few more adjustments to the route and the caches to find list and we would be off.
One of the trophies we have been working towards is the Frozen Solstice Horologist. This challenge requires the Dragon Zoner to find a Dragon Zone cache on every day of winter. When we left Tasmania we only needed to find one Dragon Zone cache on July 18, 20, 21 and 22 as well as August 31. We knew we would be passing through Murray Bridge and as there are few GA caches in the area that we haven;t found we decided to find this CORS. We had no trouble locating the CORS mast and soon had the required photo taken. Now we only have to log finds on 3 more winter days to qualify for our Frozen Solstice Horologist trophy.
