It was interesting to visit the Coonabarabran Airport today - perched on the top of a hill is different to most airport locations. We located the CORS antenna. Two photos have been added to the Gallery: the first shows Mrs y'stassie with the CORS in the background; the second is a closer view of the CORS antenna. Thanks for the cache.
TG47 drove us in here on our way south from Cairns. What an interesting place for an airport. I loved the views from up here. The mountains and Siding Springs were very clear today. TFTT Geocaching Australia

#GA5130 - 17:25; Day one of a road trip with Sol de lune as we head north for the Dayboro Mega. The weather was fine at last as we set off from the National Capital and made our way towards Narrabri where we planned to spend the night. After collecting caches along the highway, we took a detour in to the airstrip as we reached Coonabarabran for a snap of this CORS. TFTT Geocaching Australia

Day 3 of our journey to Alexandra. Left Nanango Qld on Monday and stayed overnight in Moree. Left Moree early on Tuesday and now it is Wednesday and we are staying in Dubbo till Friday. Collecting GCA hides on the way south as this is the perfect time for me to increase my finds for GCA and my Dragon Zone points. Followed the GPSr and arrived at the locked gate of the airport at the terminal building. Still 145 meters to the grassed area where the CORS. Not allowed out there. it was relatively easy to take the required picture. TFTT GCA.

Heading up to Siding Spring Observatory today and decided to find this trig/Cors. Nice little drive up here. I managed to pick up a couple of road side bollards that the folk that replaced them had left laying around. There were definitely new ones in place so I was doing a little rubbish removal really. Saving the cows from twisting an ancle on them, or the large number of hawks here from falling from the sky from the reflectors shining in their eyes and blinding them whist flying.
I'm certain I can use these for caches in the future.

Took the side trip up a dodgy bitumen road to GZ. Fortunately the tarmac on the runway was in much better condition.
The CORS was quickly located and photographed. Some of the buildings here looked new and in good condition but the departure lounge needs a coat of paint badly.
Thanks.
