Description
This Trig point is located on a hill close to the Mount Isa BOM radar station and provides a great view over Mount Isa. The Terrain rating reflects the the difficulty if you choose to walk to the top. It is quite a strenuous walk but if you have a 4WD you might be able to drive to the top.
Concrete Pillar on Concrete Pad.
Concrete Pad with 1070 laid out in white quarts to spell 1070.
Most likely 1956 construction that ties in with the area.
Documentation can be found stating 1966 on 1982 document.
I believe Recovery Points might be locatable...need to go back for another look.

Logs
There is plenty of the trig still there.
Might not be a beacon,
But there is a pillar on a concrete pad.
With 1070 engraved into the concrete pad with white quartz...the Mount Isa Trig special.
Look like dates go back to 1966, but most likely 1956.
Cheers

Nothing much of a Trig remaining - just Bobby and me up here. Quite and easy drive doable in a sturdy 2WD.
Staying in Mt Isa overnight as we continue our journey to Alice Springs.

I found this Trig during an unsuccessful attempt to find a nearby trig that has been unfound since it was published over 6 years ago. The top of the trig is missing but the concrete and metal base is still here. There are private property signs but the gates weere open and I was not the only one up here, there was a 4WD and a couple of extreme runners who ran all the way up in the heat.
