Description

CORS (Continually Operating Reference Stations) collecting geodetic data from GNSS.

A CORS is a Continuously Operating Reference Station. CORS can take the place of a traditional base station used in differential GNSS positing. They can give an instant position to an accuracy of ±20 mm and are used in many industries including Precision Agriculture, Construction, Mining, Surveying and in Scientific Research.

Typically, the maximum distance between a base station and rover GNSS set up is around 10 - 15 km. This is due to the effect of the atmosphere on the GNSS signals as they travel from the satellite to a GNSS receiver.

With the establishment of a network of CORS, the distance between the base and the rover can be extended. The CORS can be spaced around 70 km apart and using at least 3 of these CORS, the atmospheric effects can be modelled and corrected for, yielding the ±20 mm position solution required by so many industries.

More info on CORS can be found here: CORS

Found on our drive from Bourke to Inverell chasing GC LGAs, of course grabbing trigs whenever possible….

22-Jul-21
Out on a road trip with LuckyL10n to grab a few dragonZones in outback NSW that we still had to visit including Bland, Carrathool, Lachlan, Cobar, Brewarrina, Walgett, Coonamble as well as grabbing a few caches in previously visited zones. A fun 3 days with over 2200 klms notched up along the way. A visit to the little town of Carinda which is famous for a visit by David Bowie to record a film clip for one of his single releases, was a bit of a highlight. A neat pub with great food and a good sort of atmosphere. Well worth the drive off the main road to check it out. At $55 a night the accommodation, while basic, was not too bad.

This was one of the many trigs we found while out and about. No issues here and the required photo was soon snapped.

Thanks for another trig.... Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy

#GA5375 - 15:20; Day two of a mission through the Central West of New South Wales with Sol de lune to grab some of the dragonZones to our west was now underway after overnighting in Lake Cargelligo. Today's travels took us from Lake Cargelligo past Murrin Bridge, into Cobar, Bourke, Brewarrina, Walgett and on to Carinda to overnight. We collected finds in Lachlan, Cobar, Brewarrina and Walgett dragonZones and counties along the way. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Last one for the day. It is now hot and has taken us far too long, but there's a great spot beside the river waiting for us.

Today we are travelling west from Walgett to Brewarrina trying to grab as many of these trigs as possible. I was hoping to get the 12 months unloved that was available on most of them, but discovered my good friend Albida had done a mad dash from home and has dashed, ha! Ha!ha! that idea.We also will be after the GC Earth caches there . Thanks for publishing this series of trigs Geocaching Australia. DancingDancingClan CerberusClan Cerberus

I decided a weekend dash north to finish my inland NSW counties was in order. The aim was Brewarrina for the two Earth Caches. Day 2. After a coolish night I was up and away fairly quickly. I am planning on doing most of the GC caches on my return journey, but I stopped at several GCA caches and even a run of Trigs West of Walgett. The day turned out quiet warm and I camped by the banks of the Barwon River just out of Brewarrina.

I finally reached Brewarrina and tackled the Earth caches. I found this while having a loo around town before finding a spot to camp for the night..

Thanks
Albida
