Description
CORS (Continually Operating Reference Stations) collecting geodetic data from GNSS.
A CORS is a Continuously Operating Reference Station. CORS can take the place of a traditional base station used in differential GNSS positing. They can give an instant position to an accuracy of ±20 mm and are used in many industries including Precision Agriculture, Construction, Mining, Surveying and in Scientific Research.
Typically, the maximum distance between a base station and rover GNSS set up is around 10 - 15 km. This is due to the effect of the atmosphere on the GNSS signals as they travel from the satellite to a GNSS receiver.
With the establishment of a network of CORS, the distance between the base and the rover can be extended. The CORS can be spaced around 70 km apart and using at least 3 of these CORS, the atmospheric effects can be modelled and corrected for, yielding the ±20 mm position solution required by so many industries.
More info on CORS can be found here: CORS

Found the CORS quickly and in our photo it is just to the left of the Australian flag.

We celebrated my sister's birthday milestone with family and friends at a pub in Wang, and are now off for a much needed Easter break. How better to navigate to the olds' place than caches?
Most of my waypoints were virtual; this was the first. Possibly not the best time of day to see this one, but hey...
GCA#362
We had identified this CORS as a possible find as we had found many GCA in Benalla prior to the start of dragon zone.
We have found many CORS antennae, often those sited in city centres are hard to get good photos of because of their close proximity to other buildings. Some of these can be clearly seen from a distance but when approached more closely they are obscured by gutters, roof lines and other antennae.
Our photo has been added to the gallery.
By logging this CORS in Benalla we are left with four zones in which we need to find at least one dragon zone cache so we can earn our Finding our geocaching Centroid.
Day one we overnighted in Moree, Day two, three and four we over nighted in Dubbo. On day five we overnighted in Shepparton and days six and seven we over nighted in Bendigo. Now we are up to day 8 and we left Bendigo for our next 4 night stop over in Queabeyan before we head to Alexandra on Friday. Todays cache finding has begun. Next one on our list It took some looking on my part to locate this one as it is well tucked away from the front of the bildings and in between two buildings. TFTT GC A
