Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

This trig is located within the Mount Faulkner Conservation Area but is surrounded by PRIVATE PROPERTY.
I have spoken to the owners of the land at the end of Mount Faulkner Road and they are happy for walkers to walk through there property.
Park near the house at the end of Mount Faulkner Road and walk up the 4WD track.
At S42° 47.643' E147° 13.153' take 4WD track to the right.
At S42° 47.710' E147° 12.557' turn left onto Wards Fire Trail
At the highest point on the 4WD track S42° 47.709' E147° 12.143' start bush bashing straight to the trig allow 2 hours in the bush on your way up.
Logs
In the past I heard of stories about people been escorted off the mountain at gun point. A few years ago I found a cache near the recommended parking spot and asked the owner of the property where the track went. About six months ago I read of a trip by the Hobart Bush Walking Club to Mt Faulkner in that report they talked about walking up from Mt Faulkner Road.
I went back to the land owners and talked to them about walking through there property to the mountain they were happy with me walking up the track and parking at the end of the road near there drive way.
A few weeks latter I headed off for the walk, it was a nice warm day and the walk up the 4x4 tracks was trying and steep in places. Once at the heights point of the track where I had marked on the GPS I started to bush bash straight to the trig. As I bashed my way thought I wondered what I was doing and as it got steeper and warmer I did start to feel it but as the numbers on the GPS were going down I was happy to keep going. Once up in the steeper sections it was nice to get to some of the rock screes as hey gave great views over the bush.
The trig was easily found where I had something to eat and a nice rest before getting the required photos. The views from Mt Wellington around to New Norfolk were fantastic.
I had read that the bush is too thick to get to the fire cabin from here and as I was a bit tied I thought I would give it a go for 15 minutes and see how far I got.
As I was walking I noticed small tree stumps where a past a track had been cut in the past I followed the track (stumps) to the fire cabin. I took some more photos before having lunch and working out which way I was going back down.
I decided to walk down the road to where it levels out and heads NW from here I started to bush bash towards the SE. I didn't want to walk too far down the road and end up in the property owned by the gun totters. This bush was a lot thicker but nowhere as steep as the way up.
Started walking at 0910
After 1h 10m I left the track and started to bush bash at 1020
After 1h 40m of bush bashing I reached the trig at 1200
After 35m for morning tea I left the trig at 1235
After 20m of following the old track I arrived at fire cabin at 1255
After 30m for lunch I left fire cabin at 1325
After 10m of walking down the road I once again started bush bashing at 1335
After 1h 25m of bush bashing I was back on track at 1500
After 40m I was back at car at 1540
