Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

Please open this link http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/?base=2258 before starting your trip.

The trig is a pleasent 30 minute walk along the coast on a nice day. It will be a lot harder if the wind is blowing and the waves are breaking over the rocks.

The trig is a rock cairn.

Today, Mr T teamed up with Mr T(Triumph Twins) and decided to tackle these 2 Trig points in the Freycinet National Park. We were up at 7am and were parked ready for the walk by 7:30.It was a quick walk to the first trig point as we deviated about 150 meters to the Trip. A quick pic and back to the track and along to Hazards Beach. After a long trek along the beach we went inland for about 1.25 hours and ended up at Cooks Beach. A quick walk along the beach and then a scrub walk along the edge of the bank and then along the rocks, yep I love rock hopping, but it was quicker to do this that fight all of the fallen dead Sheoaks. Wow what a great view was had from here, especially looking at the Hazards. Took the required pic and headed back to cooks beach for a well earned lunch as well as refilling out drink bottles for our return trek. I did under estimate how much water I would consumed.

After lunch we headed back over the lookout, again fantastic views were had from here, especially of Wineglass Bay, yep about 1000 steps from the beach!!!! A quick walk down to the car. A total of about 20 Km’s and about 9:30 hours walk. Great company, made the day very enjoyable!

Out with Tassie Trekkers "job" number 2 for the day. Walked in from the car park with a couple of rest stops on the way, a nice easy walk except the bit from Cooks beach to the trig, which involved a bit of rock hoping and scrub bashing. Best done with a low tide and not too much swell or wind, we were lucky on all counts had great conditions. Back to Cooks beach for a bit of lunch then back to the car, a big day but very enjoyable.

I was on a walk to get some FTFs in the area and made an early morning detour to see if this trig was around.

We left Cooks Beach and walked around the point following foreshore occasionally cutting over some smaller points. We were lucky that the sea was calm and the tide wasn't too high. The trig was easily found a nice little rock cairn on a large rock shelf.

Found on Friday, 27 October 2017 0818

As it's been 3 months since I published this trig and no one has found it I'm claiming a *FTF*
