Description
CORS (Continually Operating Reference Stations) collecting geodetic data from GNSS.
A CORS is a Continuously Operating Reference Station. CORS can take the place of a traditional base station used in differential GNSS positing. They can give an instant position to an accuracy of ±20 mm and are used in many industries including Precision Agriculture, Construction, Mining, Surveying and in Scientific Research.
Typically, the maximum distance between a base station and rover GNSS set up is around 10 - 15 km. This is due to the effect of the atmosphere on the GNSS signals as they travel from the satellite to a GNSS receiver.
With the establishment of a network of CORS, the distance between the base and the rover can be extended. The CORS can be spaced around 70 km apart and using at least 3 of these CORS, the atmospheric effects can be modelled and corrected for, yielding the ±20 mm position solution required by so many industries.
More info on CORS can be found here: CORS

We did have to wait for a council worker to leave before grabbing the photo required for this find.
Thanks.
This TP is just a short walk from Kerang train station and a spot I stop at for 40 minutes every few days. After a quick bus clean and a bite of lunch it's just a short walk to grab a quick photo before loading more walk-on freight
After staying overnight in Swan Hill, we headed towards the south east to look for caches around Quambatook, Boort, Mount Terrick Terrick, Pyramid Hill and Kerang before returning back to Swan Hill. We had a very enjoyable day visiting places we had not seen before. We found the DEPI Offices in Kerang but had difficulty locating the CORS antenna. It took a little wandering up and down the street and it wasn't until we were looking at the right angle that the CORS antenna was seen. Two photos have been added to the Gallery: the first shows Mrs y'stasie with the CORS antenna in the background; the second is a closer view of the CORS antenna. Thanks Geocaching Australia for the cache.
