Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Wandering around Kwinana gathering smilies today and this was on the "next closest" option of the GPSr. A short walk up the hill, with my hamstrings telling me all about it, and I arrived at ground zero. Photo taken and attached

Cheers Cool

I was fortunate to have an RDO today and thought that I could head out and grab a few GCA caches this morning. I targeted a few virtuals and some Trig points that had been on my to do list for far too long. Cheers for the cache!

Glad to see some new trig points published. My first time in this area.
View to the north was ladies playing the world game; Garden Island to the west; rain clouds east.
Out making most of lazy Saturday, braving intermittent rain, on a mad dash for multiple finds.

18-May-18
Plesant autumn day, and a great veiw of the sound.

Great view.

I had trouble getting up the hill to this one but got there in the end with a bit of help from Chwiliwr.

The view is great.

Thanks for the cache.

Another trig on the maps but not in GCA. Not a normal trig structure in sight but the trig place is in the middle of a white cross on the lookout so must have been used as a control point for aerial images at some time.
