Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ. A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself. Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access. These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps. To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point. The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies. Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website. If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated. TS7361 Mulwala is located atop an older water tank on Commonwealth Department of Australia, Department of Defence land in Mulwala. You are not permitted entry but the trig can be seen from the fence line. Access to the fence line can be gained along a dirt road near the golf course - S35 09.133 E145 59.942 or if you are playing a round of golf you would get a closer shot.

Off on a mid week break with Just a cacher to enjoy the sunshine and follow the river for a while when we noticed that this cache was nearby.

After finding a spot to pull over with a view of the trig it was a quick grab and then on our way again.

Thanks for the trig.

It was great to be in Mulwala for a few days.

I took the opportunity of finding a few GCA opportunities.

This was one of these.

I trekked up as close as I could.

A quick snap and was away.

GA3969 - 11:55; After a couple of days in St Arnaud for the Mega, followed by a night in Echuca we set off for home this morning with a few more caches on the 'to do' list. After stops in Tongala and Nurmurkah, we had reached Bundalong and were pleased to add our names to the log for this cache, before heading back to Yarrawonga for a couple and then north into NSW for some more, including this trig. Making our way from Albury to Wangarattsa today, not far by most people's standards but when you're hunting for GCA caches it ended up being a long day. The trig is there on the top of the water tank through the trees

An all-too-short family holiday up on a different part of the Murray than usual... what started as a week ended up being a long weekend, but hey, we got a break...

This morning, I got up while the rest of the family were still asleep, and went for a pleasant pre-breakfast stroll. The return journey took in the perimeter fence so I could get as close to the Trig Point as possible.

Thanks, Team Geocaching Australia.
