Description

The old pin is conveniently encased in a small concrete block.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape.
Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

TG47 and I are heading north to visit our gorgeous grandchildren. We left home before dawn this morning and have travelled through rain all day arriving in Dubbo about 2:30. I guess the locals are loving the rain but I am looking forward to the warmer weather in Cairns. After settling in we ventured forth for a couple of more trigs to add to our collection for the Battleships Game that has just begun. What a surprise when we arrived at GZ and discovered two trigs here. TFTT Geocaching Australia.

#GA5126 - 15:00; Day one of a road trip with Sol de lune as we head north for the CacheQLD - Dayboro Mega. The weather was fine at last as we set off from the National Capital and made our way towards Narrabri where we planned to spend the night. Picked up a few caches as we made our way along the highway, stopping for lunch in Wellington then on through Dubbo to this trig. I had a sense of deja vu on the approach and soon realised that we had logged the new trig previously, but overlooked the old one. Made amends with the find today. Heading to QLD and the Dayboro Mega with LuckyL10n and this was our next stop. Thought we had been before when we saw the trig....and then realised we were looking for the 'old' trig point. That was soon found and once the photo was snapped, we were soon on our way again again.

Cool to find these old ones.....

I decided a weekend dash north to finish my inland NSW counties was in order. The aim was Brewarrina for the two Earth Caches. Day 3. I headed south aiagn, this time via some diry to visit Carinda and Quambone. Then it was back to the bitumen at Gulargambone for a few more caches before returning to Wellington via Dubbo.

I took a short detour to visit this very flat cache, only weeds to to contend with for both. Even thought there are three markers.

Thanks
Albida
