Gallery of log for Nattery Hill
*FTF* Found 5:30pm. I had seen this on the map a little while ago and I wanted to check it out as no one had been to it yet. I was on my commute to Canberra and had the BF with me from one of my geodaughters. The commute should have started earlier in the day but I am trying to recover from a bad cold. Anyway I thought we could still give it a shot even though it was going dark. I approached from Rampion Hills rd and worked out that one of the gated tracks would lead us close near the base of the hill so throwing caution to the wind opened the gate as the first gate was not locked and drove in, re closed the gate (important) and drove past the little dam, where I parked the geovehicle to one side. Just as we were parking could see the local cows in the next property over were being called in. Anyway I took the position that if approached or challenged I'd explain my mission and that I thought there may be public access as long as the gate was kept closed since there was no signage saying to keep out or otherwise, nor locks. But I urge caution as it probably is leased land since as we got higher up the hill we encountered sheep and a large flock moved off in front of us until we got to the trig itself. But we had to go over/through another fence near a gate, before we could start to climb the mountain/hill. To the right you can see a blue metal quarry of what appears to be one. Got to the top of the hill but unfortunately light was fading fast. A nice view from here though. My photos aren't the clearest as 1) iPhone cameras aren't great in poor light and 2) trying to take a photo holding another device at the same time and trying to touch a button to take the photo is difficult without some shake.
Anyway I've found it. The return trip down the hill we took the same path more or less. But because it got dark ended up using the phone lights to show the ground a little better.
The trig itself is a little different to others being short with a base of piled up rocks..
My rating is for the view. But beware of land ownership. Maybe worth first checking if you have the time.
