Headed west today, this trig point hove into view
It has a lot of company these days vying for attention out on the plains

I stopped roadside and took the 80 metre stroll through the scrubbery to find the remains of this once vital locator beacon in the landscape
Again ... no brass markers, just a bit of pipe sticking out of concrete

Behind the trig, an icon of the new age has arisen !!
Telstra 3G mobile !!
So at least phone coverage is excellent here
