Fitzroy Bridge over South Creek at Windsor NSW
Due to the traffic on the bridge and no clear pedestrian access on this side, approached the sign from the old historic Toll House and photographed from the embankment.
There has been a crossing near this site from 1802 with the first bridge being a floating structure built by Andrew Thompson. A more permanent structure was built in 1813 and was named after the builder John Howe. The bridge was replaced in 1853 and then again in 1881 when the current bridge name was bestowed on it. The current high level bridge was built in 1975. The bridge is named after Sir Charles Augustus Fitzroy (1796–1858) who was the 10th Governor of NSW from 1846 to 1855.
