A grey day but still a top view. The obelisk has an interesting history dating back to the end of the 19th century when a group of locals felt that not enough had been done to commemorate the pioneering 1813 expedition, led by Gregory Blaxand, across the mountains. Presumably, it overshadowed the York TS, nearby.
