Gallery of log for TS6136 - Olive Gap
This was the first time I'd been caching in three weeks. It took some discipline but I needed to put in some serious effort on postgraduate studies. The weather had also been quite extreme with prolonged rain and potential flooding. I read the cache information and knew to expect wet feet. The water level on the old track came to about ankle height so my joggers got wet. The frogs of course were very happy with the swampy environment. The afternoon was humid and bothering insects (bees, horse flies, mosquitos). I should have followed instructions to keep on the old track but I was a bit concerned about going away from the trig and downhill which was counter intuitive. I went bush bashing and eventually found the trig in good condition. I was pushed for time due to impending sunset. I started downhill and encountered lantana, spikey palms and barbed vines. I had my trusty wind up torch with me. I followed a watercourse downhill. Fast forward feeling concerned about getting out of a now dark forest I stepped into a clearer area with my feet sloshing in the familiar water. Trudging through the water and long grass my torch shone on a sign and soon my car. Quite a few scratches, tired and a few lessons learned.
