When is a furphy not a furphy - when it has been built by an apprentice of John Furphy. This 'furphy' was built by the Close brothers who are in Finlay NSW. Apparently apprentices were allowed to build and name their own machinery once they had built 10 that John Furphy passed as good carts. So says the man who owns this Close Furphy - owner of 20 furphies - now have we been spun a furphy I wonder?!!!
