Logs for Casperandtui

Cut back a few saplings and marked the entry and short scramble uphill with orange markers, cable tied to sapling trunks. Geocache box is a little weathered, and home to a gecko family, but fine (and thrilling) to visit.

Jan 4, 2024: cache intact. Path up is much better. Be sure to keep combing straight up to the summit before you turn left. Couple of red herrings.

Jan 2, 2024 all is well with this cache. Awesome place here, great for kayakers. Refill your water bottle from the freshwater springs leaking out of the walls

Jan 12 2022: cleared the track of overgrown gorse. Quite a bit of growth of native trees & shrubs too, but the track is nicely navigable. Be sure to climb to 30m elevation before veering left (North). The cache is in fresh condition.

The comments from the last visit prompted us to make our annual visit to the cache. All is well with the cache itself, we replaced the beer .
We cut back some gorse, but suspect the last visitors turned left (north) too early on their climb to the summit, which routes you through a patch of gorse. Please ignore the left turn at 10m altitude. Keep climbing straight up to 30m altitude (the summit) before veering left to the (updated) coodinates here:
36º49’41” S 175º49’17” E

Hasn’t been logged since 2016, I suspect very difficult to maintain adequately because of the rare possibilities for access. Also suspect sea conditions wash it away periodically.

Neat little cache in a perfect Hahei spot. This is what geocaching was invented for. Our caches are placed on the island - take a kayak to Mahurangi for more adventures.

We found this cache successfully some years back, but locating it the last few years has been fruitless. Messages to the owner (DoC) over the past two years have received no replies. We maintain a cache, “Hidden Cove” on the same offshore island which receives good feedback. We would like to list a replacement cache for the archived one. It’s already placed & ready to go in a primo spot nearby.

We found this one a few years ago, but made searches for it in Jan 2019 & Jan 2020 to no avail. Sent a message to the owner last year but received no reply. I think it’s no longer maintained. Needs to be archived.

Seal team "Ghost Protocol" searched for ages but didn't find it. There was a lot of driftwood at the back of the cave so the water might have got it and washed it away. We left a green troll as a tribute to the cave demons.

Went ghost-protocol under a ton of bridges to find this easy one - fun!

Description too ambiguous for our party of 6 hunting for this. Went to Nikau Valley, did advertised loop walk (5 mins), hunted at bush-faces at start & finish of trail, no go!
Cool. Found button & "Calendar Girls $5". Left proof of find.....
