Logs for FrodoB

07-Oct-14
After completing the GCCO geo-art(a few missed ones today), I, Rey del Roble, and titelines went for some caches in Kansas and Nebraska. A totally enjoyable day. TFTH.

19-Apr-10
Caching with my geo-bud PhilNi. Ah, now I get the pun.

Caching with my geo-bud PhilNi. We talked about it ahead of time, and had what turned out to be an excellent guess on how the cache was attached. Just being there makes one feel grimy and germy.

Caching with my geo-bud PhilNi. I remember watching JP as kid way back when. Gertrude was my favorite because he seemed to have so much fun pretending.

18-Apr-10
PhilNi was rather modest about his own participation, but was on about GA's. Unfortunately, she couldn't make it since she was caching elsewhere. Since I are an engineer, this kind of puzzle is extremely difficult for me. It was a fun team experience on what turned out to be a very challenging puzzle. Thank you, Fishie.

25-Mar-10
Out doing the Seattle side of the Peace Sign Series with PhilNi. I had to do this and the othet Textology puzzle I had solved, as long as I was in the area. I never was very good at following directions.

The last cache of the day for me and PhilNi. There sure are a lot of Fishie puzzles around The Cut. While the concept of the solution was a simple one, the execution was not. Got'er done, though.

PS- When I was in the Army, WTF meant something entirely different. ;>)

16-Mar-10
Out for some caching fun with my geo-pal ohjoy!. A little bit of looking and the joy was in our hands. TFTH.

23-Jan-10
I am proud of my team. It is nice to be friends with such focussed people.

We had just shown up on site, when I hear, "Frodo!" It was PP, PG, SH, and S (Sciuchetti, you need another initial ;>) ). SO it was a gang search for this one. Wish the rest were this easy.

Wasn't as bad as I dreaded. There were a number of possibilities, but there were a number of us to search them all. The growing geotrails made it rather easy.

01-Nov-09
The critters have gotten to this cache. All that is left is the chewed on lid. I signed the sticker on the inside of the lid, since that is what now comprises the cache.

27-Aug-09
Completed today at 10:57! Last of four left to blackout Seattle. I met with my geo-buds JohnnyBoy, Grossi, and BrewerMD for the adventure.

I phoned the wife and had her file the original log, and now I am back to tell the rest of the story. My last caches for this blackout were the four paddle caches around Kellogg Island. The cache owner of several of the caches, Funny Nose, was watching from the shore phoning me and giving me friendly encouragement. I knew my geo-bud FN would wait until after I had logged these before he enabled some of his new caches, but I didn't know about the myriad of the other Seattle cachers. I thought I had all but these four to do yesterday, but one cropped up out in Llandover Woods (how does the Woods end up in Seattle??!!) So, I made a quick trip out just for that one cache. And, I checked my email for new caches this morning before I left home. So, I am confident that I now have them all blacked out. For the next 15 minutes, at least.

In the five years I have been caching, I have found a total of 1,607 caches, as of today, within the Seattle city limits. 450 are now archived. Out of the 1,607 caches, 615 were non-traditional, leaving 992 caches done for this part of the challenge. Thank you GSAK for giving me this data.

And thank you Fishiam for having created these challenges. Otherwise, I would never have done many of the Seattle caches. Big cities are my least favorite places to cache. And Seattle is not only big, but is also car unfriendly. No parking, lots of traffic, no parking, can't get there from here, no parking, one way and interdicted streets. And did I say, no parking? Downtown Seattle is the absolute worst. We would only go there on Sunday mornings, and for just the earliest few hours. Once the gotham dwellers arose from their late nite slumber and started to straggle out for their late morning Starbucks fix, the caching was over. I will never forget the drunken bum at the 5 of A Kind cache that staggered up when I had arrived the third time for that day. Finally, no drunks swilling their bottles. Didn't last long. Just as I started to search, up comes this bum, sits down next to me as I am bent over searching, and belches in my face. OK, that's it for the day. Also, I am infamous for my "creative parking." The only time I ever got a parking ticket while caching was on Queen Anne Hill. Now, I admit I deserved it. But, Seattle was laid out street-wise back in the horse and buggy days, and who needed to provide for parking cars back then? There, now that I have spouted off, I feel much better.

Thanks, Fishie, it was one helluva ride!

28-Jul-09
I apologize that I did not write the required note at the start of this challenge. Between both traditionals and non-traditionals I had 73 caches left to find when this was published. And about a dozen have been added since then.

As of 28 July 2009, I have completed all active non-traditionals, except two which need to be archived. Frecky's final is now gone, and WP1 from Happiness is also gone. I have asked the reviewers to archive them or at least place them off-line. They can belt out the new caches, but attention to Needs Archived seems to be in Braille for them. C'est la vie.

Anyway, using the magic of GSAK filters, over the years since I have been caching (Mar 2004) I have logged 612 non-traditional caches in the Seattle area filter. Until I ran that filter, I would never have guessed that the number was so high. Whew!

Thanks for getting my butt off the dime and getting into Seattle to black it out, Fishie.

25-Jul-09
SleuthHounds and I did this one over several days. First, a bike trip around Green Lake. Holy, moly, are there a LOT of benches there! Then today we were prepared to make the final push. Very original idea for a multi, I must admit. Now it is off to Seattle Geocache Adventure, for which we got WP1 today.

20-Jul-09
SleuthHounds and I had our bikes with us today, since we were trying to do a multi at Green Lake. Good thing we did, as it turned out. Man, the final was a bugger to nab. Great views all along the way made up for eveything. TFTP&H.

28-Jun-09
This one took us many months because we tend to avoid the travails of caching in Seattle. One WP at a time, then going home to do the required work. Glad to finally have completed this one. Whew!

25-Jun-09
Truly, I have had this ge-gemgous tidbit solved for many a moon. Foiled in our last effort by the tears of the rain gods, we finally resumed our trek to the land of quicksilver. Trodding down through the glade of ancient horse tails, we came upon the joy. A wassail, I cried!

01-Jul-06
Having found a number of your caches in Tacoma, I had a fair idea of what we were looking for. Splitting the search task, Albert&friends had the "Ah, hah" moment, and I had the satisfaction of knowing that I had figured out your clue. Thanks for the fun cache, BF.

24-Jun-06
Relaxing way to end a wonderful day with Albert&friends. TFTH.

18-Mar-06
Yup, that was us outside, Seth! Hope we didn't wake ya'll.

Hi, Adrian! Thanks for creating this fun little hide for us. I and Poodleranch probably woke you up this morning. Sorry!

29-Jan-06
Amazing that this one has lasted so long. It just goes to prove that muggles don't see what they are not looking for.

20-Nov-05
One adult and one kid (me) will attend.

09-Oct-05
This was my first one of these locationless caches. Not sure why it is locationless, as it has published coords. Was out caching with Poodleranch, who took the picture with her phone camera.
