Hey, this was heaps of fun!!! I was a previous ACT Rapidplay Chess Champion and ACT Junior Chess Champion so I was really looking forward to this one. After going out to woop woop in North Canberra and digging in the dirt for a 'cache' for about 10 minutes I nearly gave up. I then looked up and saw two looming statues standing guard and it clicked - I was looking for chess piece clues and not little boxes in the ground.
I took a friend (Lawrence the virgin Geocacher) on a bike ride across Canberra to find the other pieces and I was always amused by what we found. Without giving too much away I loved the 'pawns' and 'queen' the most.
Usually in Chess puzzles the term 'checkmate in 3 moves' refers to 3 moves for the winning side (so 5 moves all together) but this one was 3 move all up. So I got confused when trying to find the checkmate. But we eventually got it sitting in a bakery in South Canberra using only pen and paper enjoying a nice Sausage Roll...
The ride to the cache was HOT!!! Not cold. Summertime in Canberra is like that. It was a nice ride but Lawrence got 2 flat tyres. So I ran the last 1km back while he rode 2 bikes.
Overall, a long, tough but highly enjoyable Cache!!! Highly recommended.
Lawrence took a starfish, I took a bear.
I left a car and a motorbike.

Can't remember the exact date we found it. I took my brothers for their first cache hunt - we combined it with running training. We could not fund the first cache we looked for but we found this one. I dont think they had as much fun as I did but I love wierd stuff like geocaching.
Easy to find and in a good spot off the track so people wont randomly find it. Awesomely awesome

My second cache ever! Luckily that the way points were at the parks because it started to rain and I could take shelter under one of the platforms. Took me a while to figure out how to use my brother's GPS watch but I eventually found the cache.

This was my first ever cache and I am so excited!!! This is like a secret society all over the world so I will make sure not to tell too many people about it. I am definitely going to keep playing this game.
The cache was partially visible when I found it so that is how I returned it. Is that how it works? I guess I wont find out until I find more of them.
Didn't take anything or leave anything but I may go back later and do it considering this was my first cache. Awesomely awesome.
