Logs for NikLibSteph

05-Oct-24
In the area and saw the notification come up for a new listing. Not wanting to keep this end of the rail trail with any missing smilies and with the possibility of a FTF, stopped in on the way home. Parked the car - still no FTF log - this could be it!!After a fast walk to GZ and a quick search, the cache was soon in hand. But alas , beaten to the punch!! Happy to be the second to find, about an hour behind the FTF. Still an enjoyable hunt, even if I know have wet toes!!!

Fairly confident all of the caches on this track were found and signed on a sneaky getaway to the Region, but I don't have a saved log for this one. I'm not sure if I missed it in the haste to finish before dark, or signed the log and forgot to log online. Keeping a note either way, just in case!

Sneaky little find on the way out of the winery, after sampling some more of what the Region has to offer!Couldn't resist visiting the namesake winery, given St Leonards (Vic) is where I'd lived for nearly 20 years!Loved the opportunity to drive through the Vines on the way in and out of the winery.Needed to take some happy snaps of the gates to outwait muggles on their way out of the winery also. Log signed and everything replaced as found.Kicking myself that I hadn't paid closer attention to the fact that there were likely caches at the other wineries I'd been to while in the Region..... I guess it's just a good excuse to come back for more!!TFTC

Out and about on an unexpected extended trip to the Region - and who can resist stopping at a 'park and see' Waterfall- especially when there is also a cache involved!!After taking the obligatory happy snap of the falls, marvelling how beautiful they were and different ways to be able to access the pool below, the hunt was on for the cache. It was just after sunset, so light was fading fast. Took a little longer than it probably should have, but got there in the end.Log signed and everything replaced as found. Thanks for the added bonus of a cache, when coming to visit this beautiful spot!

Ooooh, this one was a bit annoying!!!Stopped at GZ and thought this would be a quick find. Looked in some of the 'obvious' places, but nothing. Double checkked the coordinates,, they were still good. Widened the search- still nothing. Was getting to the point of calling it, as daylight was quickly fading, but still persisted. Just as I was about to get on the bike and head off, spotted it hiding- almost where the bike was parked!!! Log signed, some light swear words and all was replaced as found. Coordinates were alightly out for me, but that cpukd have been the phone GPS plying up. TFTC

What do they say about getting over confident with hides.....?!?!Thought this one would be in one spot, but was soon disappointed, so it was back to the drawing board!!It didn't take long to find, and the log was quickly signed and everything replaced as found.

Nice quick find on this one, although another cache guardian (in the form of a ) made the find interesting. Quick find, cache and log in good order. TFTC

Race to the finish line! Nearly back before the sun runs away.Quick find, with lots of noisy sheep who were definitely helping with the hunt!! Log signed and everything replaced as found

Loving the trail and the series (and being in the wine region!!) Quick find, log signed and replaced as found.

Had this one spotted on the approach, but needed to exercise some 'thats very interesting, might need to take a photo of the landscape' while a runner passed by.As soon as the coast was clear, log signed and everything replaced as found.

Trying to beat the sunlight on the way back from Wahgunyah and get the bike back before closing time. Thanks for the maintenance that has been done before, to enable the log to be found today!

Racing through these hides now, just like Brolga Bill on his bicycle!Such a great reason to come to the area and enjoy the sights!! Thanks for placing these caches, ready to be found!

Quick find, racing the daylight back to Rutherglen.Cache soon found. The lid is cracked but the log is still ok. The pencil was stuck sideways in the bottom of the container. I tried giving it a quick shake, but I couldn't get it out. Lucky I had a pen on hand ready to sign the log. Also really appreciative that most caches still had a pencil for log signing as a backup!!

Could not have picked a better day to find the puzzles that had been solved about a month before. Looking forward to seeing the finished GeoArt project!!Happy that this was a quick find in a spot that wasn't too difficult. Appreciate the time and effort that has been out in to developing and maintaining this series!

This one took longer than it should have. Hined in on the area it certinaly had to be, couldn't see anything, so continued the search elsewhere. After seveal minutes, circled back to the original spot- only to find one of the arch nemesis' of caching!! After a short facepalm, log was signed and all replaced as found.

Found this one and the return trip, after having had a sneaky lunch stop. Rode the bike across the river to enjoy lunch closer to the water, before heading back.Enjoyed seeing the remnants of the origianl rail line - so much history!

Nice quick find on the way back to Rutherglen. The question is- will there be enough light to collect all of the solved puzzles?Height was a bit of an advantage when retrieving this one!!

Had fun solving the puzzles to be able to come to the Region and collect smilies. I can imagine how busy the area would have been for the Mega!!Happy to have found this one, added a squiggle to the log and replaced everything as found.

Started to get my eye in for some of these hides- only to have them change through the series! Grateful to the cache owner who has placed a variety of caches to find, to keep things interesting!!

Really enjoying the time on the bike and collecting smilies with such a beautiful backdrop.Nice quick find, and thanks to previous caches doing running maintenance, which has allowed me to add a squiggle to the log!

Looking at one of the photos, i almost wonder if the cache was in the right spot when it was on the hit list for today!!!100% overthought this one, but after a quick readjustment, the cache was quick in hand, and log signed. Lovely to see some grass parrots nearby whilst finding this one.

Found this one on the way to Wahgunyah. The find was nice and easy, except there was a huge huntsman on the container underneath!! Reflex action had the container, and the spider, sent flying!!Shooed away the spider, retrieved the container, signed the log and promptly returned everything as found. Now that the heart beat has returned to normal, on to the next one!!

Nice quick find on a sneaky trip to the Region. Enjoyed solving the puzzles and now enjoying the fruits of the labour!! TFTC

Needed to engage some creative thinking on how to not look out of the ordinary as muggles passed on bikes. It seems fortune favoured the hider, with the structure used to conceal the cache!! Log signed and everything replaced as found. TFTC

The struggle is real, not to crack a bottle of wine picked up earlier in the day, and clanking along in the basket of the bike. Surely, finding caches is much easier with some Durif under the belt.....?!Luckily this was a quick find, and I was soon on my way after finding. TFTC

Nice quick find on a lovely autumn's day. After signing the log, added some extra cammo to assist in concealing the cache for the next person. TFTC

Nice quick find in a beautiful area. Really appreciate the thought that has gone in to creating the caches to be found!

Have had the best time, not only solving the puzzles for this series, but also being in the Region to collect the smilies as a reward for all the hard work!Getting used to being on a bike again, and could not have picked a better day to tackle the trail. This was the last before making a stop at nearby Campbell's for a little sneaky tasting and then continuing on the Wahgunyah.Quick find in the Sunshine, log signed and everything replaced as found. TFTC

The end is nearly in sight!! Didn't think I'd get through all of these caches, given the late start to the day, and the number of finds to be made!!Had a giggle on this one, as fairly sure someone was looking at me when I opened the cache to grab the log!!Quick find on what has been an enjoyable journey, TFTC!!

Sneaky getaway to the Region, with the sole purpose of tackling this part of the rail trail and picking up caches that had been solved on my recent annual leave!!Initially, the plan was to walk the track, but the urge to do it by pedal power was too overwhelming!Missed this one on the way to Wahgunyah, as the path was not clear from muggles, so the first ended up being the last for the day - just after sunset and as a chill started to set in.Some slight acrobatics and a search by torchlight to help out, and the cache was soon in hand, log signed and everything returned as found. Now, off for dinner, some TLC to body parts that may have just adjusted to being on a bike for the first time in 10 years, and to enjoy the spoils of the day (thank goodness for the basket on the back of the bike!!)

Sneaky getaway to the Region, with the sole purpose of tackling this part of the rail trail and picking up caches that had been solved on my recent annual leave!!Initially, the plan was to walk the track, but the urge to do it by pedal power was too overwhelming! This was the first stop of the day, due to muggle activity in the area - and what a perfect place to stop!!Had some Intel from the information centre to keep an eye out for a possible additional historical immersion, but it wasn't to be today.Said hello to a few folk, waited out some muggles before signing the log and replacing everything as found. TFTC

Really enjoying biking the track and being able to enjoy the spoils from time spent solving puzzles!Could not have picked a better day for collecting smilies along the track!Nice quick find, log signed and replaced as found. TFTC

Slowly running out of steam with finding all the caches in this series. Luckily this one was a quick find, name added to the log and back on the bike!!

It was nice to get a bit of wind in the hair, biking ahead to grab this one, whilst collecting the remaining caches in the series on the way back to Rutherglen!Nice quick find, which is always a bonus!Log quickly signed and everything replaced as found. TFTC

Stopped the bike near GZ and thought - this cpukd go 1 of 2 ways - a quick find, or a long search that may not be fruitful!! So many possible hiding spots!Busy day on the track, so needed to engage the "Oh, I dropped something" technique!!Tricky hide- first search was in the right spot with the right idea, just on the wrong side!! After some gentle searching, that cache was soon in hand, log signed and everything replaced as found.

The sun is starting to set on today's caching adventure, so busily trying to smash through the last few caches before heading home with precious cargo collected earlier in the day.Nice quick find, a quick scribble on the log, everything replaced as found and it's back on the bike again!

A bit rattled after the near DNF on the previous cache- didnt want to come all this way to not be able to collect all of the smilies!!!Coordinates were slightly out again, but this could have been the phone. Cache was soon spotted, log signed and I was happily on my way again.

Starting to get the eye honed for caches along the track. Fairly confident this would be a quick find, on the approach.Parked the bike, a quick inspection and the cache was soon in hand!Log signed, and everything replaced as found. TFTC.

Stopped in to give this one a go, whilst busily collecting smilies from another series. The description and logs had me a little worried, as nanos are infamous for being able to be almost anywhere!!Found the extricator tool below and set to the task. After cutting a few laps around the shelter, soon spotted the nano in a well hidden position.Didn't need the extricator tool after all, as I was able to retrieve it without assistance.Log quickly signed and replaced as found. This was a nice little diversion from the series, and happy to claim this one today!! Now, it's back on the bike!! TFTC

Taking a late afternoon stroll around the park, after having heard lots about how beautiful the walking tracks are. There are certainly lots of different ways to walk- it would be easy to get lost if you weren't paying attention!!Even had to give someone else directions to find their way out!!Wasn't planning on picking up any caches today, but just happened to check if any were here, just as I was walking past!! A quick search and the cache was soon in hand, with log signed. TFTC

Will aim to check on this one in the near future.

Found this one on the way home from a day trip away. Couldn't resist the urge to stop into a place I've wanted to visit for a while, but never had the chance. Bonus that there was a cache here too!! After taking in the sights, all the required information was soon collected, and the search was on!A short walk and a quick peek and the cache was soon in hand.Log signed and everything replaced as found, including some additional camo ahead of the next finder.TFTC

Have driven past the turnoff so many times, but today was the day to stop in and see what it's all about!Stunning views and history of this spot, so very glad to have made the effort to stop in.Quick find and an opportunity to take a seat and take in the views whilst signing the log. TFTC

Returning to the area after many, many, many years, for the long weekend.Wish the trip to Mt Buffalo was done earlier on the weekend, as there was only a short time to enjoy the beautiful scenery today.Heading up the mountain, spotted the lookout and thought 'there has to be a cache there.....I'll grab it on the way back!'Sure enough, after a walk around Lake Catani and part way to the Gorge, and on the descent towards home, stopped in to grab this one.Cache and log in good order as I left my mark and continued on.TFTC, I'll be back for more!!!

10-Mar-24
Headed out on this track in the heat (not the best idea) and forgot to take bathers. Not going to make that mistake again!!Plenty of beautiful little entry points to the river along this walk, but couldn't resist the urge to grab a cache or 2 on the way!!After crossing the suspension bridge and heading down towards the river to "take a photo" (read: wait out muggles), the cache was soon spotted, log signed and everything replaced as found.Saw a massive red bellied black snake sunning itself on a rock on the way back from the falls- so snuck very carefully and slowly past it, so as not to disturb it.TFTC

Spending some time exploring the area for the long weekend. After having a crack at the Gorge walk earlier (without bathers to go for a swim!!!) a local suggested coming here for a visit and a dip.Swung past Mermaid Beach initially, had a brief paddle near Barb's chair before heading up to Rock pool for a swim. This is just what the doctor ordered after a day of walking in the heat!! It was an instant cool down!!Chatted with a couple of other bathers (totally shocked with how few people were here, given how accessible it is and how hot the day has been!!) petted some dogs that came for a quick dip before heading back to try and find this cache.Quick stop at Mermaid Beach, waited out some muggles before attempting to find this cache.Quick find, although, beware of blackberry thorns!! Shed some claret around the ankles, but worth it for the adventure. Thanks for placing this cache in such a beautiful location!!
