Logs for Peeve

This cache was successfully found in Rio De Janerio, atop Sugarloaf mountain. I felt incredibly lucky to have stumbled across it down here; I've always wanted to find one of the Photographer's caches, so I was lucky that my vacation trip coincided with the cache's "trip" to Rio.

I have included a shot from the top of the mountain to prove I was there. Off in the distance, you can barely make out the famous statue of Christ overlooking the city. I will upload better pictures of the view, and of the mountain itself, in a few days.

Thanks for the opportunity to find both this cache and a chance to make my trip to Rio a little more memorable.

Greetings from Texas! I went to New Zealand to get married. We were up this direction to dive at the Poor Knights Islands. My geomuggle wife was exhausted after a day of diving, which gave me a chance to get out and do some caching! This was the first non-virtual cache I've found outside of Texas.

Man... ya'll hide them well here! I never would have found this one without the hint (like the Eagle, I also found the coordinates to be off, but it didn't surprise me due to the thick tree cover). My visit to the cache was (accidentally) perfectly timed, as well. I arrived right at dusk. The trails and platform were deserted, and the city looked beautiful from up there as the sun set.

Sadly, I had absolutely nothing on me to trade, so I TNLN. Thanks! Your country is an amazing place! I only wish I had more time to see more of it through geocaching.

This was actually the first cache I have found on non-Texas soil, and the last cache I found as a single man! My fiance' and I came to New Zealand to get married. We found this cache on a Sunday and got married the next Tuesday on the Coromandel pennisula.

We were in Waitomo Caves, to (what else?) see the caves. The previous day, we did some Blackwater rafting, and earlier the same day we did the 100 meter abseil into the Lost World (short trip back up). There is absolutely NOTHING like this in the States; we had a helluva good time. After our caving adventure in the morning, we were SUPPOSED to head back to Auckland, but my GPS said that there was a cache just a few kilometers away. Shouldn't take long to get there! Lets go!

It shouldn't have been a long trip, by Austin standards... our roads are much straighter than yours! What was 10 KM's as the crow flies was actually over 30 KM's long. Nevertheless, the trail at the cache site was well worth the trip. (As well as the tremendous bridge! It was actually so incredible I'm not really sure my mind ever fully grasped what my eyes were looking at. I was expecting something much smaller!) As we made the loop, we couldn't resist seeing if we couldn't pat the sheep. (Tourists! Razz) Sadly, they were pretty wary of us and made sure to keep their distance. We respected that.

When we got back to the car, we realized that we were almost out of gas, and it had been a LONG time since we had seen a petrol station. Uh oh. We weren't actually sure that we could make it back to Waitomo Caves, and we didn't remember seeing a gas station there anyway, so we decided to head on to the next little village towards the coast. They didn't apparently have a petrol station either. Or the next village. Or the next one. Several more minutes of complete panic set in, but we eventually made it to a petrol station that was open, and all ended well. We just made a LONG detour to get to Auckland!

Thanks for showing us another incredible spot in your incredible country. There is no doubt that one day, we will return. And hopefully get in some more caching this time!
