Logs for Vatvedt
04-Aug-24
Thanks so much to Strider06 for the maintenance. As the description says, when it was published, my friends wanted to do so as the cache was on their property and as a way to meet new people. They were to maintain it. As they moved away, the cache had to be moved and maintaining it was a bit harder. Even so, geocachers have been kind to maintain it for me. Strider06 will be able to check this up for me on occation (thank you!).If maintenance at any point no longer should be possible, the cache will be archived. Still, it's nice to keep it alive for as long as possible. It's a nice way for me to remember my stay in Emerald.

Seems this might be gone. If anyone would like to replace the container and log, I'd really appreciate it. If not, this would unfortunately have to be archived. The family that lived where I placed it have moved away. So I no longer have anyone to maintain it.

If anyone can replace the log/container on this, it would be VERY much appreciated. If not, it would unfortunately have to be archived. :/

Traveling from San Francisco south, via Yosemite National Park with my muggler friend. 10 days in the US makes some nice new memories, and a few good caches as well.
We had a quick stop at this park, just to find this cache. A short hike later I was at gz. Had to look a few minutes until I found it. Really close to the fence. Quite easy to find actually. Thanks for this oldie.
Thanks for this cache!

If someone is able to replace the container for me, I would really appreciate it. When the cache was placed in 2013, my friends lived next door to the cache and they really wanted this to be published to meet new people. They moved away a while later, unfortunately.
So any maintenance is highly appreciated. - Thank you!

Is there a kind soul out there that would maintain this cache for me, please?
If not, I would probably have to archive it. * *crossing my fingers* *

**The cache**
The main cache! The one we skipped in 2015, I think it was disabled. This this time it was one of the main caches. We bought a pass and parked close to the first cache. The hike took a while because we were looking at logging every cache on our way in. We got there in the end, and reading some logs. There it was. Quick and easy
**The day**
Monte Cristo was on the list for today, after a visit to HQ, and with it a few caches along the road. It was a great hike! Unfortunately titi89 got stung several times (5-6) by wasps or bees, and it hurt A LOT! And it still does almost ten hours later. It's a lot better, but she says it still hurts a lot. Anyhow, she wouldn't let this ruin the day, and she kept walking, and we did the whole hike. DNF on the first one, but the rest where found.
We also met up with geocachers from Alabama, and we kept them company for the rest of the hike. Really nice people, and great company! Hope to meet them again tomorrow for the Going Ape event.
Thanks a lot for the cache!

Day two of our (titi89 and myself) trip to Belgium, with a visit in Luxembourg and France.
We got up early, picked up our rental car at Brussels airport, and drove off.
After a few caches, and plenty of kilometres, we had visited France twice, and a short trip through parts of Luxemburg. Then back to the airport.
We drove about 600 km today. Not bad on a day geocaching.
This was our fourth stop of today, and one of the primary goals of this trip. Parked our car nearby, and walked the sort distance. The cache was easily found and logged.
Thanks a lot for keeping this old cache alive and well!

Searching for GCC67: Mission 4: Southern Bowl. We're twelve people (S.Bratlie, Ugle, oGGa1984, TWERTH, Draupne, Gekka61, Gray-Raven, Team Vesla and myself (Vatvedt) on a mission!
The plan started with Mission 4: Southern Bowl, and escaladed into four countries, and more special caches. It was an amazing trip, with a lot of great moments and memories for a lifetime! It's not the first trip, and it won't be the last.
Thanks a lot to all CO's along the way, for creating and maintaining these caches. Couldn't have done it without you!
Caches were signed with either our nicks (by pen or sticker), or The Norwegian Vikings.
Now, back in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
First whole day in Buenos Aires. Time for a walk in the city. Exploring, sightseeing and find some caches!
Thank you for this nice cache!

Long weekend geocaching-tour to Finland, Estonia and Latvia with Team Vesla, jas77 and Grey.-Raven.
Some highlights are: About 50 caches, two FTF's in two different countries (Finland, and Norway), the last active geocache with L&F attribute (GCHKAY) in the world, the oldest cache in Finland and Estonia, four webcams, a virtual cache, 8 different icons in Finland, 6 (or 7?) in Estonia, event in Latvia, and a lot of other great caches in great places.
This was a great trip, with good friends. Feels almost like an extended family. Love you guys!
This cache was one of our main goals on this trip. We aim to find the oldest active cache in each country we visit (if possible within our time frame and driving distance). Short walk on this one. A lot of lumbering here, so the path was pretty messed up, but that didn't stop us.
Thanks a lot for this nice cache!

After logging Tarryall in Colorado, and visiting Pike's Peak, this was our next goal. It was our primary goal for landing in Colorado, and even though I had logged a cache from May 2000 (4th oldest active in Sydney, Australia), this was a given.
Since we're going to the U.S., we had to log the world's oldest active geocache! It was an easy find, and this was geocaching history for us. It was quite a drive, but it was worth it. Traveling with janarst, Ugle and Team Thoresen.
Next up is Portland, then Seattle.
Thanks for this great cache!

Well, this was an experience! First off, the spontaneous trip from Norway to the U.S. made geocache-planning a bit hectic (bought the tickets on Thursday, and caught the plane on Saturday), but some planning was done. This cache, the oldest one in Florida was a must try!
After a trip from Ft. Lauderdale to Key West, and then via Everglades to Cape Canaveral and Orlando, the trip went to Fort Myers. After quite a few virtuals and webcam caches (and letterbox, earthcache and traditional), the time had come to give this one a try.
We drove to the Ranger Station, but they had closed ten minutes earlier. The mosquito rating wasn't too bad, and there was a small note about black bears at the end. Didn't think much about it, and worried more about gators. We then drove to the trail start, and went by foot from there.
Followed the mountain bike road/trail until there was about 170m (yes, the metric system ) left until GZ. The road so far was dry and nice. The next ~70m on the bike trail was WET. My muggle-friend had accompanied me this far, but he turned back. I don't blame him. Standing still and be eaten by mosquitos wasn't tempting.
I had brand new Gore-Tex shoes, and for about 30m or so, they did a pretty good job in the wet trail. After that, not so much. Seems the hole in the top of the shoe (where your foot goes), isn't that water tight. Go figure! So, wet feet!
Oh, well.. kept going until the next 100m (~300feet?) pointed straight into the bush. Changed from shorts to pants. The mosquitos hadn't been that bad. Just slightly annoying. The pants was better when it came to walking in the not so tight bush. No gators, snakes our anything this far. Yey! Fingers crossed! Arrived at GZ and found a typical cache-trail to the cache location, and there it was!
The wet feet had paid off! My second cache from 2000 was logged. The first was Australia's first, from May 18th 2000 (that's old!). Signed the log, grabbed a (Seriously, grow up!) TB and a pathtag. Put the log back, closed the lid, and replaced the cache as I found it.
Followed the GPS log back to the wet bike trail. Found the biggest snail "house" (don't know the English word for it.. shell?) I've ever seen! Cool! It was empty.
Went back to the dry trail, and jogged most of the way back. Right before I got to the gate at the start, I went around a turn, and out onto the road with the gate. I suddenly heard some commotion a few meters away (50-60m), and I turned around. Was it a gator, or a raccoon?
No, it was a black bear!! Guess he must have heard me coming, cause two seconds later, he was running around a turn and gone. Don't think he saw me, just heard the noise. Only saw him for a second or two, but there was no doubt, that was a bear! I'm from Norway and we do have bears (but not in the southern part, where I'm from), but this was my first experience with them! Wow! Cool and a bit scary at the same time. Luckily, he was more scared of my footsteps. Too bad (or was it?) he was so quick to run away. Would have been awesome to get a photo..
A few seconds later, I was back at the car. Off with the pants, and back in shorts. Off with the wet boots and socks, and now dry feet. Great feeling!
It was a calming sensation to get into a car with AC and to relax after meeting with a bear and finding this old cache.
Thank you for a different, exciting, fun and scary trip into the "wild".
Favorite point from me.
Greetings from Norway!
Edit: Typo (there are probably more..) Yes, there was..

Today was the day to visit Disney. One of the goal of our trip to Florida. Magic Kingdom were the park of choice, as well as Epcot.
This was a nice and easy virtual cache, and it was a great day. The sun was shining, and there was a few pretty good rides. We even met up with some friends from Norway that we didn't know were in Florida until yesterday.
Thanks a lot for this nice cache. Picture is of me (Vatvedt) and Ogga1984.
