Lighthouse Scheveningen, The Netherlands.
Scheveningen is an old fishing town on the west coast, North Sea coast, of The Netherlands and is a part of The Hague now.
Already since the early 1500 there was a fishing light at Scheveningen, this was a open fire placed on a tower at the beach.
This fire became official in 1615 and, the France period, and was modernized to a lamplight.
The lighthouse, that is still in use, was build in 1875 and is made completely out cast iron.
The tower self is made out of 432 plates of cast iron and weights from 100 kg (220 Lbs) up to 600 kg (1320 Lbs) and al of this is mounted together with 4600 bolts and nuts.
The lighthouse has a height of 40 meters (131 feet) and is placed on a sand dune with a height of 15 meters (49 feet).
The tower is twelve-angular and has a diameter of 7,3meters (30 feet) on the bottom and a diameter of 3 meters (10 feet) on top, just below the platform.
The lighthouse shines 2 times every 10 seconds and on a clear day the light is visible up to 18,7 nautical miles.
