I'm 9,470 miles away from this cache, but if I ever get there I'm giving it a favorite point. Great name! (and I qualify)

I headed out early this morning to try and get some caching in before the muggles got too thick. I was glad I did as it got pretty busy in some spots.
Day two of my trip to Stockholm (with a long layover in Copenhagen Denmark on the way) for a geocaching adventure. The main event was to find the Match Stash cache. But of course finding other old caches, high favorited caches, as many types as possible, and all that usual stuff is happening. I spent about 8 hours caching today and walked over 14 miles. I earned my pizza dinner!

I needed a geocache for International Geocaching Day today and since I was going to be down in DC I looked for something near the convention center where I was attending AwesomeCon. Thankfully it rained only for a bit and the rain was long over by the time I headed for the metro stop to head home. I must be stupid, as while I found the information needed for this cache (message already sent) I didn't understand the connection to the story in the cache description. Oh well, happy International Caching Day!

Jasmer loop 2 complete!
It was a beautiful morning to be out for the short hike to this cache. It was a tad chilly until I got moving, some of the standing water had a skin of ice and there was a touch of snow here and there. It was great to see that the original logbook is still in the cache and I enjoyed snapping some pictures of it and leafing through. I dropped 4 travel bugs and picked up one.
I headed out for my second (and successful) attempt at Potters Pond very early this morning. I drove down here back in May while visiting family and found that despite what the park website claimed, the gate was still closed to Miller Flats rd. Today, however, the gate was open and my trip was not in vain. Afterward, I grabbed a few in the area on my way out and then enough of the letterboxes on the letterbox trails a bit north to break 100 letterbox caches. It was a good caching day!
Thanks for keeping this rare old cache alive.

I planned well, and the result of my carefully planning and counting made this my 8,000th cache find! It also completes my Jasmer and qualifies me for several challenge caches that I have signed over the years. Many thanks to all who have fought to keep this cache alive and for those who worked to get the nice plaque put in (Yay Geocache Talk!).
I set up a mini tripod to get the picture for my milestone and the wind was blowing so hard it blew the tripod over 3 times before I got the picture. The weather was... unpleasant.
Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache.
I dropped by this cache while working my way from Arikaree to Hays KS by way of Mingo. I have determined that the most interesting thing in Kansas are Ottieolsen caches.
Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache.
This was day 2 of my CO/KS/MO #geocachingroadtrip. Originally I was coming out to attend Mingo Madness, which got 2020ed (twice). I figured I would still make the trip so I could finish up my Jasmer, get some other old caches, great gadget caches, and highly favorited caches.
It was 96 degrees in Devner yesterday and this morning it was 39 degrees and sleeting. Welcome to Colorado! It’s not that weird for me though, I grew up in Wyoming and remember it snowing during the July 4th parade one year. By the time I hit Kansas it was just rain and a stiff wind. The wind and rain never stopped and I don’t think it got above 40 degrees. Not optimal Geocaching weather, but I found nearly every one of the 45 or so caches for which I searched today.

In case anyone is wondering, if you are coming from the north, the roads are all nice and clear all the way to Miller Flat Rd (11 miles from GZ). However, the metal gate that blocks entry to Miller Flat road is closed and locked. I didn’t have time for a 22 mile round trip walk for this cache so I’ll have to return some other time. Sadness
I did enjoy the views during the road trip though.

This was my 13th oldest cache in a state, despite it being much closer to where I live than many of the other old caches I have found. Oh well, I finally got it. The entrance to the park is blocked off, but like a few others, we parked along the side of the road and walked in.
Traveling south today with CoachWest, we broke up the trip by grabbing a few geocaches along the way. That and the lack of traffic made it a much nice trip. The cache was well concealed and is in great shape.
Thanks to the CO for maintaining this cache.

I couldn’t pass up and old cache like this one. It was more of a hike than I expected! It took me 1:04 to walk the 3.3 miles from the time I jumped over the gate onto the road to making it back to my car. I took the road for a good part of the way out then bushwhacked when I was as close as the road was going to get me to the cache. I thought that due to the ruggedness of the terrain and the high number of cacti to dodge, this would be faster than bushwhacking straight there.
After finding the cache I decided to just bushwhack straight(ish) back towards the car and forgo the road entirely which ended up being quicker despite the terrain and cacti dodging. It wasn’t bad as long as you pay really close attention to where your feet and legs are in relation to all the many spiny things out there.
Also, this is one of the least likely to ever get muggles caches I have found this trip. I'm impressed the CO lugged this thing all the way out here.
Thanks for the old cache and bringing me out into the beautiful desert.
I read about the Raven caches in Prescott (especially the amazing Indiana Jones ones) in a book called “201 geocaches to find before you die” They sounded great and I love Indiana Jones, so I flew out here from MD primarily to find the Raven caches and of course get some others (like this one) on the trip around AZ. The caches have not disappointed! Thanks for all the great caches!

Thankfully I had a partner along for this trip because as everyone knows it takes two to tango! Thanks.

Bushwhack Bob and I had a great morning out on Lake Lanier with Captain Steve. Captain Steve (770-329-2534) is the perfect geoguide, he beached the boat at each landing so we didn’t have to worry about getting wet, and he informed us as to the best approach to take to each cache. Our prime target was Marooned, but we enjoyed some more time with Captains Steve and found another 8 caches around the lake. Thanks for keeping this great old cache going and thanks to captain Steve for a great morning cache hunt!

Capt. Steve is taking us out to Marooned and some other nearby caches on Tuesday 3 October at 08:30 and we have room in the boat for at least two more! Message me if you would like to join in on the adventure.

If anyone heading down to Going Caching in October is looking for another person to help defray boat costs to get this cache before or after the event, let me know.
