Didn't get to the cache as the Selwyn was in flood again.
I suspect this one has gone - just like the original, washed out to sea!

Took fridge magnet, left padlock & suction cup.
Cache is pretty close to where I put GC4A in 2000, it was the third in NZ, first on the mainland.

The wife and I were going to visit the cache on the Port Hills, but didn't fancy clambering about in the heat....
So we tried for the Waimak river one, and found it after about 5 mins from stopping the car! Great place to hide it too.
There were lots of trail-bike riders about today, so we had to be careful when searching to make it look as if we were just walking about aimlessly...
Didn't take anything, but left a couple of pens and a bunch of cable-ties.
The box is getting a bit full!
We'll have to resurrect our Mainland One cache, the first in the South Island: the one that got washed out to sea when the Selwyn river flooded...
