My last visit to Monte Cristo was in 1972 - 45 years ago and I still remember it vividly. I came here after graduation form college with my new wife and we used this location as a jumping off point for a two week backpack trip into the cascades. Began with going up and over "Poodle dog pass." What a grind. Anyway, back then, we drove nearly all the way to Monte Cristo. As I recall, we only had to hike a mile or so from our car to this spot. Many things have changed but this place is still very special and quite beautiful.
Today I am hiking to Monte Cristo with SFG99 (my oldest daughter) in search of geocaching glory. Once at the GZ, we did a bit of circling and looking at virtually everything that met the hint criteria before I finally saw something a little odd at one of the stumps. Sure enough, there it was. Container in good shape and the log has our ink. I dropped a coin to celebrate. Thanks for sharing and thanks for maintaining this cache for so long.
