Please ask for my help for the Virginia area. We will travel there to find it.

The description says it all: quick stop for a long trip. But for us it was long trip for a quick stop. We left a foggy Pennsylvania a couple days ago, stopped to see the eclipse, and found a few caches along the way. We saw some interesting things and met some nice folks. This was a nice reason for an adventure to the sunflower state.

On the evening of the third day of Christmas, we weren't sure if the ramps or the islands were available to visitors in the dark. So we returned on the morning of the fourth day of Christmas. It was between a drizzle and a mist, so we dressed in clothes designed to keep the moisture out. Ted had toted the kayaks all the way from Pennsylvania, so we were determined to use them to make that effort worthwhile. It wasn't so cold to us, being from the north, but perhaps the rain kept most other boaters away. We heard a distant motor, but no other craft ever came into view. As we pulled in to the chosen launch site, ted identified some loons, a heron, and a grebe. After a push-off and a bit of paddling throught the gloom, we arrived at the island and pulled the kayaks up a ways. S collected a couple of seashells and we set out in search of a marooned cache. S collected a beach ball. We startled a few deer. Ted spotted the container first and we signed the log and traded a few trinkets. This cache brought us to a beautiful part of the lake. Alas that there was so much litter on the island. As we paddled back to ted's car, an eagle flew past.

It was the end of a drizzly day spent in the Capitol. We thought we'd be stupid if we had watched tv all day, then saw the real object. We recorded the name and took photos, then went to get out of the traffic and eat some dinner because we weren't stupid yet and still very hungry.
