Description
What's your hobby and show us your favourite collectable item please.
As I've been geocaching, I have built up quite a collection of "swaps" and have been catologuing same.
Looking through them this morning I realised that we all have a collection of one thing or another.
So to log this cache:
1. Please tell how you got interested in your collectable hobby;
2. Post a photograph of your favourite collectable;
3. Where that item came from;
4. Why it is your favourite.
If your collectable is photographs, please no nudes or items of a paunographic nature as they will be deleted and the log will not be registered as a find.
Please, just one log per cacher.

Our family collection obsession is cloth badges from places we visit, or events we attend.
This probably started from Dad's time in the scouts and Mum's time in the girl guides, and Dad also remembers his grandparents sending cloth badges back from their multi month trips around Australia.
The kids are really into the badges as well, and the old blue and yellow information centre sign has become one to watch out for. At least it helps to break up the driving.
Sadly these cloth badges are getting harder to come by (and much more expensive), although we have found the inland towns more likely to stock them than the more touristy coastal stops. They seem to be being replaced with magnets, which I guess are easier to mass produce and buy in bulk.
Pictured are Dad's blanket and middle daughters slightly more sparse blanket.

MrsGT54 is a very keen collector of ruby glassware. In particular Cape Cod collection form Avon. This photo is a small selection of her collection. TFTC.

Over the years I have collected many thing such as stamps, coins/notes (money), movies & video games, but my favourite thing to collect has to be hats. I have collected around 100 hats that varies from very rare to very common. There are also many different sizes and types of hats. In my photo I have six of my many hats. They are:
Top Row From Left: Kids Disney Cap, Commonwealth Games 'GC18' Cap & Clear Waters Geocaching Mega Event Cap
Bottom Row From Left: Merry Aussie Christmas Bucket Hat, A Winter Beanie & ANZAC Day Cap

I have always been an avid collector since my grandmother gave me a jar of used stamps which has become a lifelong hobby. But collecting branched out to many other things including Computer disks of games when I used to have boxes of 5 1/4” disks, then 3 1/2” before they started producing them on CD’s, I had thousands of them before I sold them all when I discovered the card game Magic the Gathering. I have thousands of those cards too which I must sell now we are about to renovate the house, and need to downsize our belongings.
I guess collecting names of caches I’ve signed the log for now takes up all my hobby time, but for this cache I will use my Magic the Gathering collection. Just one book of many albums I own.
My favourite card is the Holographic Ornithopter, a card which has been a special favourite to play, and my grandson did a special card trade to obtain it for me as a surprise gift.

One of the many collectables we have is hat pins from our travels. Most are bought at information centres. Some have been bought in op shops. They are getting harder to locate. Here is a photo of some of our collection. TFTC

Mr DaFiChNi is a book tragic. If there is a market on nearby, you will usually find him checking out the bookstall. Consequently the bookshelves are groaning. Favourite book read this year would be 'The One Man' by Andrew Gross, and favourite authors include Michael Robotham, Michael Connelly, Andrew Gross, Lee Child, Clive Cussler and Lisa Gardner to name a few. Thanks OldSaint for organising this locationless cache.
My favorite collectable, from my hobby of cycling - is my new cyclocross bike
It's incredibly quick on any terrain thrown at it. I am very attached to it!

Well, it's probably a cliche at this point for geocachers to say this, but my favourite collectable item is my pathtag collection! I've been collecting pathtags since I started geocaching and now I've got a full album of them plus two of my own designs - as of now, I have a total of 279. I love pathtags because of the unique and colourful designs that are printed on them and I also love the trading that is involved when recieving the pathtags. Some photos of my collection will be attached - thanks OldSaint!

All things the Beatles...but mostly their music. I have many CDs, LPs, sheet music, t shirts and news clippings from when I was a child. I'm 50 now.

Mrs y’stassie is a Christmas tragic – addicted to Christmas decorations. She has an extensive range of Christmas items collected over 40 years. Her favourites being the Christmas angels. These include some glass angels from Germany, a gift from older daughter while studying in Europe, a tiny lace angel from Switzerland , a present from younger son and daughter purchased during a trip to Europe, small pasta angels made by a student, several hand embroidered angels made by members of the local embroiderers’ guild, a tiny angel made from a she-oak cone and 2 miniature porcelain angels purchased for her by her late mother at the first ever Deloraine craft fair. Family favourite is Drunkie, an angel made from an overlocker cotton cone with a table tennis ball for a head, who has adorned the top of the Christmas tree for the past 30 years. Drunkie was made by number 2 son as a 3year old at play group and got its name from its lopsided grin and dishevelled woollen hair.
Music is another favourite of mine, and I buy CDs of those artists I like and usually try to get all their releases. My first CD was a secondhand one - Siouxsie and the Banshees - "Tinderbox" - since then I've added almost as many CDs to my collection as I have caches... I like the artwork that comes with physical recordings (be they vinyl or compact disc) and I try to avoid digital downloads as much as possible for this reason. I can't pick a favourite, I like my music for different reasons and for difference situations/moods so the best I can do is quote from an old Genesis song "I know what I like, and I like what I know"...
When we were travelling in 2009 we found our first pathtag in WA.
Since then we have been collecting them and have finally designed our own.
We didn't like the idea that they were in a bag hidden away so we purchased small craft magnets and display them on the side of the fridge.

Whilst not my personal collection, I quite liked the selection of creatures that have been discovered in the Tasair hangar at Hobart Airport. One of the engineers has taken great pride in his collection and display in the hangar kitchen.
I have been collecting pathtags founded in caches, and traded with cachers. It has been a great way to store up memories of places I've been and people I've met.
I have loved and collected anything to do with pelicans for a long time
I cant remember when exactly I got into collecting them but I just think they are beautiful creatures and if I could have one as a pet I would.
I also loved the movie 'Storm Boy' as a kid and I even read the book. I don't think I have a favourite as they have all been given to me by special people so they all mean a lot to me.
Thanks for the cache OldSaint

Another of my colletions are Hard Rock Cafe Shot Glasses and Caps. I have been collecting these for quite some time, and while I dont have them from every HRC I've been to (77 as of today) my collection is growing.
Today - after flying from Australia to Jakarta (on the way to Bali) - I visited the Jakarta HRC and added another Cap and Shot Glass to my collection.

I do a bit of travelling now, and since I started caching it's given me something else to do while away. Recently I started to collect (Baseball) caps from different countries and US States I've visited. I'm only up to 9, but the collection will grow as time goes by.
My favourite...at the moment it's the last one I bought, in Fiji on 31 Oct 2011. Photo's attached.

Not sure which of the two 'Collectables' locationless caches to log this under so this will do. Are there supposed to be two?
The geoboy has been an avid collector of train tickets for a few years. I used to commute to work and kept each ticket. Then I started to work from home a few years ago so the supply dried up. Luckily his teacher took note and provides a new supply.
There's one rule with train tickets - no picking them up off the ground!
These are mainly Sydney CityRail tickets which change colours every now and again. There's a variety of different things on the back. Some tickets are from overseas.
I used to have an interesting collection of old 'Edmondson' style tickets (the small cardboard ones) but my mother threw them out years ago.

371. I worked in a bank for a good number of years. After a number of those years automatic coin counting machines were introduced. That led to a bonanza of foreign coins. Customers usually didn't want them back so a great collection is just sitting waiting for overseas trips (parking will be no pain!) This is all I have left from my own trip and a friend's trip to NZ. I think I gave them around NZD86 and I took around NZD52 on my trip. Have some exotic countries I need to visit (and hope the currency is the same)

The Treasured Teapot
Grose Street
Leura, NSW
There's an amazing and nearly unique collection up here in the Blue Mountains, and one that I thought should be show-cased in this 'Collectables Locationless Cache.'
'The Treasured Teapot' features a large collection of teapots of all kinds. In fact, they operate an 'Teapot Museum' together with a coffee shop and small cafe.
The collection is open, as far as I can tell, seven day a week, during business hours.
This is a most unusual collection and yet is available for everyone to enjoy.

I collect every movie ticket from everytime I see a movie, had done so for years, I must have close to 100 by now, haven't ever counted them. This is the last 4 to be added to the tiny box that holds them all.
Some of them, the ink has almost faded completely.

Five years ago I came across a website - http://postcrossing.com that said 'send a postcard and receive a postcard back from a random person somewhere in the world!' and I thought getting a postcard in the letterbox instead of a bill had to be a good thing.
Five years down the track and I have realised that I now have a collection of postcards. In fact I have received over 1033 postcards in that time from 56 different countries in the world.
I enjoy going to my letterbox each day, there is usually a postcard in it for me. I receive more postcards than bills these days.
I enjoy travelling the world through the postcards I get and the friendships I have made through a small piece of cardboard with some writing on one side.
My favourite is a postcard in the shape of a shaggy dog and it had a little envelope in its mouth that held a little note. The postcard came from a woman in Finland.

We have a collection of shot glasses.
We started collecting them as a good way to remember all the places we had been on holidays.
Our favorite glass is the one we had engraved in memory of our son Brock RIP.

Here's my collection of fountain pens, along with a ballpoint, rollerball and pencil. I had used fountain pens in high school, and as an adult started collecting them again. All except the wooden one are made by Parker. As for favorite, it's a tough call as they all have their own little nuances. I love the weight and balance of the 2009 Parker Urban (fifth from left), I love the soft nib on the 1965 Parker 17 (fifth from right), and I like the look of the 1964 Parker Slimfold (blue and gold one in the middle, with matching pencil 3rd from right). All except the 1943 Victory (4th from left) are in full working order and get used in regular rotation.
Being partial to a brewed cup o' tea I began collecting tea infusers about 10 years ago. The collection has grown slowly as you don't come across them very often. The antiques are made from brass (early 1900's), the newer ones are tin (fifties and sixties) or stainless steel (from the eightys). A photo of the collection is attached.
I really enjoy finding and moving GC and TBs, it is great to see how these tackers have moved from cache to cache, state to state and country to country. It is great to be able to help them on their way.

Geocaching got me interested in this hobby! At one of my very early caches I found shiny thing in a cache called a geocoin, and once I knew what it was, the obsession had begun to collect as many of those gorgeous shiny things as possible! I have my own (shared) geocoin, and two personalized pathtags, and about 35kg of trackable, unactivated geocoins stashed in various places about my house
I dont have one favourite - I love them all!

My collectable is angels, I never used to like them but 13th November 2002 my little angel - Emily, passed away. I read somewhere written by another grieving mum - MANY PEOPLE DREAM OF ANGELS - BUT I TOUCHED MY VERY OWN. From that momet I have loved angels.
I will not add a photo of my very own real angel as it can be upsetting to alot of people, but that is by far my favorite and always will be for obvious reasons.
I have many reminders, photos, poems, her teddy, plaque from her casket that are all my very special ones, but for sharing I have chosen these 2 bookends.
The bookends are special to me because I used to be on a chatroom and one of the friends I made on there found out I love angels and why and so she sent me these as soon as she saw them, just to make me smile. She was an angel as they arrived on a day I was so depressed and needed something to smile about.
My second photo is a little cross with an angel on, this is very important as it is the only present our daughter recieved, it was given to us on what would have been her very first Christmas. It means so much as it shows not everyone forgot her, she was still alive in someone elses mind.
So sorry my collection isnt a happy one for everyone but it brings alot of happiness to me and my family.

Yep, It has to be geocoins. The first one I found was a compass Rose 2006 and I was just so impressed with the quality and design I was instatly hooked. There are certainly a lot more around these days than there was then.....

Much like Prometheus I collect fire. Or to be more accurate, fire making techniques. Any one can light a match or flick a bic, I like to try out obscure and traditional fire making methods. Over the years I have collected a few tools to make fire and have had success ith them all. My favourite for ease is a firesteel, but I have a new toy, a parabolic mirror which is quite scary in how quickly it creates an ember.

Dear fellow cache hider,
It is I, Sonic the super bird!
TFTC OldSaint! I've logged in DaBoss' collection instead of mine, because I think my collection of feathers, dead skin & seed that look like my relatives aren't that interesting...
DaBoss' collection of stamps started last year because she saw her friend start and she joined in. I can't be bothered counting all the stamps so I'll just tell you, there's ALOT. The blue folder is full of a book of stamps, first day cards, maxi cards and so on and so on.
The black book is starting to fill up with stamps. They came from all different types of places and I can't pick a favourite.
Over and out,
SONIC THE SUPER BIRD.

Recently started to collect geocoins, we have not got too many yet but love to look at all the different designs that are available. Our favourite would a GeoTalk geocoin that was given to us by Spindoc Bob for giving an interview on his podcast.
I have to admit to being addicted to collecting geocoins. It all started when my friend Mal, a real GC addict, offered to buy me a Happy New Year 2008 Gold Geocoin. That one became my odometer, WanderingAus' Happy New Year 2008 Gold Geocoin.
My favourite would have to be my WanderingAus' 25th Anniversary Vietnam Veterans Memorial GC.
When Geoswag produced the 25th Anniversary Vietnam Veterans Memorial Geocoin (now sold out), they made a limited number of Gold Geocoins. These Geocoins were made to be given to anyone who served during the Vietnam War. These were sent out to War Veterans at no cost.
To mark Remembrance Day 2009 they announced that they had a very LIMITED number of the Gold Coins left for Vietnam War Veterans. These coins were only to be sent to Geocachers who served during this time. Geoswag have not sold this coin.
As an Australian Vietnam Veteran I responded to their email, detailing my Vietnam War Service with the Australian Army, with only faint hope of receiving one, however Geoswag very generously provided one to me at no cost.
Why it is my favourite, I think speaks for itself - an awesome coin, 50 mm/2 inches in diameter, it features two Vietnam War memorial statues in 3-D and the United States Vietnam military service medal ribbon on the front. The back of the coin has the coordinates of the memorial and an image of the wall.

I've had numerous collections over the years, my latest is Path Tags. As indicated by the photo I haven't been collecting them long. Thanks for the cache OldSaint.
My mother had a doll collection going back to the early 1900's and I was given a Rubert bear as a child. Many years ago I started to think if I am going to give money to charities then I may as well get something of value out of it.
So I started collecting bears from various Charities. I have been supporting the RACQ care flight helicopter program for many years mainly because I am a Paramedic in a rural location and at the time they were the only helicopter retrieval service around. Now we have three differnt companies contracted for this type of work.
It is one my favourites as I cherish them all but I bought this one just after a friend of mine was retrieved from a local hospital by care flight so I photographed Pilot Bear

Of course my hobby is geocaching and than its only logical you start collecting coins(I think). Apart from that I am a collecter anyway. Stamps, beerbottles, coins, you name it and I collect it!!
The coin shown I retrieved from coinsandpins.com a couple of months ago and it is my favourite because it is the biggest I have so far and it actually works as a navigation device as well!

As i have always loved being in or on the water i have a few nautical items.
My favourite one is a 1943 Robinison Bros dive helmet
It is one of only a small number made in Australia during the war with only about 12 known to exist now.
I was lucky to buy this a number of years ago with out knowing about its rarity for a very good price
