Description
A walk in the Rainforest in the Botanical Gardens.
The Botanical Gardens cover some 42 hectares close to the business district of Darwin.
The land now used by the gardens was originally set aside in 1870 as a fruit and vegetable garden to reduce the colony's dependence on irregular shipments.
The gardens were named in honour of the late George Brown who was Darwin's longest serving Mayor (1992 -2002) and worked very hard to turn his vision of a green and lush Darwin into a reality and who passed away in January 2002.
As curator of the gardens he was very active in getting the gardens reestablished after most of its trees had been destroyed by Cyclone Tracy in December 1974.
The tree canopy might make it difficult for the GPS to gain a good signal, hence the difficulty rating, but if you use the hint it should not be a difficult find.
Public access to the gardens car parking area is from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm daily. Access by foot however, is granted around the clock, however I would not recommend doing this cache at night. While the gardens are wheelchair accessible the cache is beyond the reach of such a limited cacher.
It might pay to bring some mozzie repellent with you, especially during the wet season.
So enjoy a little bit of history in a peaceful setting.
The cache is very child friendly and there is plenty to look at and learn about, while you take in the verdant surroundings.
As always enjoy the cache and stay safe.

Next trip to Darwin we shall see about activating it again.
Thanks to all who have tried for this one
TFTC - TNSLSL.
I've included a photo of a pair of trees which were felled by the ferocious storm. One has been trimmed down, the other is still complete, but on it's side exposing it's roots.
I knew I was looking for a REGULAR sized cache, so there weren't a lot of places it could possibly be hidden, could it? After almost giving up I checked one last very small crevice, and found another of those smallest Sistema containers for a fairly slow find, and due to advice from the owner it was a GAFF 4 find, although if not for the fallen tree I'd have found it as a GAFF 0.
My find No 3759, Third To Find, LCC, TNLNSL, dropped my WanderingAus Happy New Year 2008 Gold GC and my WanderingAus GeoMobile TB in for a visit before grabbing them back again.
The owner needs to update the size to reflect the actual (MICRO) size.

I decided it was time to read the cache description, which led me to the hint, so I re-checked all possible areas pointed to by the hint, again without success. At that stage I looked at the log summary, and saw that there were two DNFs and two finds, so I read the latest two logs. Oh dear, the last find was only 53 weeks ago, it couldn't possibly have been muggled this quickly, I've just lost my touch. After all, a Regular sized container is extremely easy to hide.

I was determined to find this as my last Darwin geocache, before flying back south tomorrow and what a perfect afternoon - there were 2 wedding parties in separate sections of the gardens, what a great setting!)
