Description

This cache is a Gnomic.

A Gnomic is a game where the players can change the rules while the game is in progress. One of the most famous Gnomics is Calvinball, but you might be able to think of some other examples. If you've ever been involved in the arcane process of writing requirements or in amending the Constitution of your local sporting club then this cache might appeal to you!

Anyone can find, log and move this cache. Anyone who moves the cache in accordance with the rules below may propose a rule change. When you log your find on the website, simply add a proposal to your log and I'll put it to a vote of all the cachers who have already found the cache. If you're successful I'll update the rules and adjust the cache as necessary for future cachers to find. You can read about and discuss past and current rule changes here.

This Gnomic is competing with the other Gnomics for the affections of Snow White. They know she is a bit of an apple fancier so they've agreed that whoever can collect the most apples for her gets to sit closest to her at breakfast. Sleepy is currently sitting closest to Snow White at breakfast with 17 apples. Grumpy is languishing at the bottom of the table with only 4 apples!

Here is the current ruleset:

(G) GRM-001: All rules, moves and hides must comply with the 2010/2011 Moving Cache Race Rules until midnight on the 31st of January 2011, after which this rule shall no longer apply.

(G) GRM-002: Rules are divided into two kinds: Golden Rules and non-Golden Rules. Non-Golden Rules may be changed into Golden Rules (called beatification). Golden Rules are marked with a (G) and can never be changed, deleted or anathematised to non-Golden Rules.

(G) GRM-003: Golden Rules take precedence over non-Golden Rules.

(I) GRM-101: Non-Golden Rules are divided up into two types: mutable and immutable. The main difference between these is that immutable rules must be changed into mutable rules (called transmuting) before they can be modified or removed. Rules marked with an (I) are immutable and rules marked with an (M) are mutable.

(I) GRM-102: Immutable rules take precedence over mutable rules.

(I) GRM-103: A rule change may be:

  • the addition of a new mutable rule,
  • an amendment to a mutable rule,
  • the repeal of a mutable rule,
  • the transmutation of a rule from mutable to immutable,
  • the transmutation of a rule from immutable to mutable, or
  • the beatification of an immutable rule to a Golden Rule.

(I) GRM-104: Any cacher who moves the Gnomic in accordance with these rules is eligible to propose a rule change.

(I) GRM-105: All proposed rule changes shall be written down in the logs associated with the Gnomic before they are voted on.

(I) GRM-106: Each proposed rule change will be given a number for reference by the Owner.

(I) GRM-107: When a rule change is proposed then other players may suggest amendments or argue against the proposal before the vote. A reasonable time will be allowed for this debate. The proponent decides the final form in which the proposal is to be voted on and the Owner decides the time to end debate and vote.

(I) GRM-108: All rule changes shall be voted on. They will be adopted if they receive the required number of votes.

(I) GRM-109: Each cacher who moves the Gnomic is an eligible voter.

(I) GRM-110: A cacher may move the Gnomic more than once, providing that the last move was by someone else.

(M) GRM-201: A rule change is adopted if the vote achieves a simple majority among the eligible voters who have responded by the deadline.

(M) GRM-202: The Owner has five votes. The FTF has four votes. The Second To Find has three votes. The Third To Find has two votes. All other players have one vote.

(M) GRM-203: If the rules are changed so that finding or moving the Gnomic is impossible then the Owner will alter the rules to allow the Gnomic to be found or moved again.

(M) GRM-204: Grumpy's Gnomic shall be moved as far away as possible from the last known position of Happy's Gnomic.

(M) GRM-205: Every time this Gnomic is found, rated or recommended he gets an apple. The Gnomic with the most apples gets to sit next to Snow White at breakfast!

We looked where the clue said, but couldn't find it. Lots of debris around, so it may have been washed away. Hope for the best. Sad

This gnome can only be collected between the hours of 8am and 6pm as the gates get closed overnight.

Well, Have to be honest and say that I could not discern any pattern in the placement of these gnomes in Callum Brae but guess I was more focussed on finding these gnomes and making sure that none escaped the bag on the long and very very heavy walk back to the car. Did I mention the gnomes were heavy? Lol. Found nine all up and will take them for a car ride before dropping off down south to give our Southern cachers a chance to find them. TFTG I'm a Laaaaaaaady, duh!

Candy Cane 101 and I went for a walk this afternoon, placing gnomes in this area, according to some very specific instructions by Black Bunny. We haven't been told why, but we suspect a pattern is emerging. We also suspect that we were told to do it in a certain way, just to make us cross the creek the maximum number of times en route. We had fun anyway, and saw a lot of kangaroos and a few brown bunnies.

02-Jul-11
Went for a drive with black bunny and Just a cacher to a event., when the event was over, there were 50 gnomes and pathtag swapping
Thanks for the gnome Very Happy

Grabbed this fellow to bring back to Canberra after the GLF & GFF event at Mt Victoria. One of 50 gnomes at the GLF & GFF event.

A chance to catch up with some Sydney cachers that we have only parried with on the forums, enjoy some good company and swap some tags.

Thanks for the gnome

Found at the gnome event at Mount Victoria.
It was a great day! The gnomes enjoyed it, and so did the non-gnomes.
Good food, good company, good pathtags, and magnificent weather and views!

'Grumpy's Gnomic' is ready to party with his mates, some new and some he has already met in his travels. With the GLF and the GFF comparing notes let's hope for a lasting peace.
Don't go looking for him before Saturday the 2nd of July, he won't come out and play until then!

29-Jun-11
'Grumpy's Gnomic' is on his way to some fun and games in Mt Victoria for the weekend. His transport has been well organized and he will soon be at the meeting point.

'Grumpy's Gnomic' has now been transfered to the Gnome Holiday Resort, this is of course a Top Secret Location as we do not want everybody to turn up and expect accommodation. You have to be a bona fide member of the GFF for that to happen.
So don't go looking for him, he is not where you think.

20-Jun-11
'Grumpy's Gnomic' could not stay away from the Clwydd gathering of Gnomes, he also wanted to take advantage of the Gnome Holiday Resort!
It was quite a surprise to find him sitting there in the cold waiting patiently for me to arrive home from a Gnome drop in Sydney!
Not to worry he will soon be on his way after some R&R.

This gnome is not at the listed coordinates! In fact I don't think his GFF training has really taken hold as he was objecting to being out in the cold night air and insisted on a nice ammo tin to hide in. So after I solved the GC cache Triangulate 3/2 he hopped in the cache and refused to come out.

So to find him you will have to solve this multi (or have solved it in the past and remember where the hide is). The coords are for the start of the multi.

Saw this little guy had parked nearby this morning before I set off to work. He was on the way so I detoured in and after finding myself on the wrong side of the creek made my way across through the spiderwebs then he was quickly in hand.

As I carried on towards the office the phone rang and I got diverted to Narellan for a problem so it's taken a while to log him.

What's all this "meeting with the local GFF Officer...transportation vouchers...Clwydd Headquarters"???

Found this one hiding and shivering in the Autumn chill. He's got stories to tell, but seems reluctant to say anything. He did mention water boarding, and teeth pulling though...hmmmm....more investigation required.

He'll benefit from his time with the GFF.

Great to meet Grumpy and help him along in his career.

The GFF will make a big difference to him, and perhaps put a smile on his face.

We shall see . . .

I read the log for Gnombling Along and figured this guy had probably gone along too. But on the offchance, I dropped by Maccas on a drizzly Sunday and checked "to the left of Gnombling". As it turned out, my left was the right but a muggle friend helped with the directions and there was Grump's Gnomic waiting. Pretty grumpy at being left behind a few weeks ago too! I'll send him for a bit of retraining Smile

Grumpy and Gnomebling had gotten quite chummy, and became good friends.

They were, however, sick of my driving, and when i got out to get a coffee, jumped out.
