Another circle in nature. I think I'm convinced. This time we're looking a rose in the background in someone front yard. No perfume on this one, just a pretty round shape in pink.

A circle in nature, no such thing ... hang on, what's that there? A tree trunk, circular in nature after the tree was cut down. It seems to be resprouting, so there is hope for this circular nature item.

While out walking today I came across these circles.
‘Concretions’ , pretty cool stuff.
Circles formed over many millions of years in rock.
The lookout is not bad too!

Round Mushroom spotted on the trail caching around Derby.
This photo believe it or not is the hot afternoon sun, with plenty of bushfire smoke making the sun look like a blood moon. We were staying at Killarney Caravan Park, and in the distance we could see the bushfire smoke.

I found the best circles in nature yesterday so I'll repost that image here with its coords. However... because of the Cacheopoly game rules, I've also added one from today that is in no way near as cool a yesterday's Leichardt's Pine flowers.

I thought of a slightly different circles in nature. Last month we were at Dunns Swamp near Mudgee and we saw our first Spotted Quoll on the mainland. A few years ago we photographed some at Ben Lomond in Tasmania. The white spots on them look like circles. TFTC

I was going to use these for the Fungi site, but when I looked at the amazing variety of fungi there, I thought these were too ordinary for that, but suited this Locationless perfectly.
We were caching at Curchill in Victoria when I spotted them. Not being familiar with different types of fungi, I’ve no idea what the name of this one is.
Thanks for the Locationless Doodle Bug Oz.

An awesome spot to visit and surprised these haven't been used yet for this locationless.
There are a few caches in the area now, one being called 'Satan's Balls'.
Mr Beetle is in one of the photos and his comparative size shows the enormity of the rocks.
Not all are round but the majority are pretty close.
Thanks.

Went to Adelaide to see Dad. We did plenty of family bonding and after a few days the Old Buggar said ' let's have a day orf tomorrow!' not a question!!!!
So She who must be Obeyed and I went to the Zoo and then the Adelaide Museum. GDHBA DMP(great day had by all)(Drink more err-- Beer)
Whilst at the museum we found this piece of Pyrites called 'Pyrite Dollars or Suns'.
PYRITE DOLLAR (PYRITE SUN)
Formed in the seams between black shale and coal 300,000,000 years ago, these pyrite dollars do not appear to be fossils, but an aggregate of tiny pyrite crystals. They seem to be mostly found in America

We like to visit Dismal Swamp at Togari, west of Smithton Tasmania. Despite the name it is a fascinating place. The swamp exists in an area of vast limestone sinkholes inhabited by a diverse range of flora and fauna. The blackwood and myrtle trees are spectacular and, in the appropriate months, there is a great variety of fungi – the range of colours, forms and sizes is amazing. The star id the fauna ofd the area is the Engaeus species of crayfish, better known as the burrowing crayfish.
Information on the website of the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Services (http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/file.aspx?id=6409) states that “The freshwater burrowing crayfish (Engaeus sp.) is one of four groups of freshwater crayfish native to Tasmania. They are small with two prominent claws and a general body length under ten centimetres. They vary in colour from orange to reddish brown, grey-blue and purple. During the breeding season (late spring to summer) females carry large orange eggs and recently hatched young under their tail.” Also it is stated that “The name burrowing crayfish comes from the fact that they dig and live in muddy burrows. The burrows can be simple and shallow or complex, deep and extensive, and can often be the product of several generations of crayfish families, digging activity. . . . . The burrows can be distinguished by a chimney like peak where they come to surface. In sheltered areas the chimneys may reach up to 40 cm above ground level.”
It is rare to see a burrowing crayfish but the chimneys from their burrows are prolific in the wet and boggy areas of the sinkholes. The tops of the chimneys are circular and an excellent example of a circle in nature. The photo added to the Gallery is a composite of two images: a view vertically down on top of a chimney showing the circular opening; and a side view of a chimney showing the balls of mud excavated from the burrow and pushed out the chimney making the chimney grow in height somewhat like a volcano

Interesting Rock Pattern South of Woodford in Blue Mountains
Saw this circular form alongside the Oak Fire Trail today while walking down to log 'Scooter on the Oaks' and first thought that it had been carved. However, on closer inspection, it seems to be natural. I wonder what cause such a form? Maybe it happened when the area was under water.

Sandstone depression, south of Woodford.
Almost too good to be natural . . . but I'm pretty sure that it wasn't carved out.
Caused no doubt by thousands of years of erosion.
