Interesting Rock Pattern South of Woodford in Blue Mountains

Saw this circular form alongside the Oak Fire Trail today while walking down to log 'Scooter on the Oaks' and first thought that it had been carved. However, on closer inspection, it seems to be natural. I wonder what cause such a form? Maybe it happened when the area was under water.
