Interesting artifact, at first we thought we had found a Trig Station but it is not. It is a survey marker used for settlement control of the railway line way down below.

back on in early December we poured our house slab, we had concrete trucks unloading into a concrete pump which then dispersed the concrete into the boxing for our house slab.
Photo includes the concrete truck, the concrete pump, and our concrete slab.

A quick pic in heavy traffic (but pulled over to the side of the road) to get a quick snap of some tall things, some round things and some other things all in the name of making the hard thing.

The retired Lismore Greyhound Track has interesting concrete wall sections in the downstairs (floodzone) area. I've been puzzled and also annoyed that I don't understand why they have ridges of slightly different widths. Were they just slack with the moulds or is there a purpose? I like things being completely symmetrical or completely asymmetrical so it kind of bugs me when I sit too close to it. Haha.

While I was researching the cache Concrete Evidence, that I published yesterday, to ensure it didn’t clash with a previously published type, I discovered this Locationless and decided to take a photo of one of my concrete bits & bobs in our garden.
After years of gracing our garden this little girl was looking so demurely at her discoloured clothes and legs, as if to say “I really enjoyed helping you in the garden, sorry I got a little grubby”
I’m sure Muggle Hubby could remove the stains with his Karcher but I’m not certain that she doesn’t look cuter this way.

So, here I was walking along the O'Connor Ridge today and I spied a concrete item. Looked at it for a good few minutes and thought about this locationless and also thought, perfect, I'll use this as my Concrete Bits & Bobs. Grabbed a photo from that location but thought I should probably get one a bit closer as well.

After grabbing the cache I was on the ridge for, I headed back to the car and drove 'over' to where the concrete thing is and snapped a few more photos. Once up and close, there is not mistaking that this thing is made of concrete.

Thanks Tanso, being a fellow local I have no doubt you know what this thing is. Enjoy the photos. Very HappyDancingDohDoh

We found these painted concrete blocks at a nearby GC cache. Some people are very creative and turning objects that are just sitting in the bushlands into pieces of artwork. This picture was taken between the very small town of Yunta and the South Australian border. Clan Minotaur

Hi Tanso

This "concrete bits & bobs" is a little known anti-tank line that was part of Tasmania’s response to the threat of invasion by the Japanese during the Second World War. This threat intensified after the bombing of Pearl Harbour in December 1941, the Japanese onslaught into the Pacific and the bombing of Australia’s northern towns. In 1942 a Japanese reconnaissance flight was made over Hobart, launched from a submarine hidden in Great Oyster Bay (near Freycinet Peninsula).

These Dragon’s Teeth are the only ones known to still exist in Tasmania, although documentary evidence suggests that others were constructed throughout the State. Huon Road was the main approach to Hobart from the south during the war period.

They are part of a sculpture made of concrete.

Yes they are large concrete dogs!

Tank traps at Anna Bay NSW
Stockton Beach is a 32km stretch of beach and sand dunes from Stockton to Anna Bay. During World War II tank traps were the last line of defence against sea invasion of the Hunter's coast.

Little penguins breed right along the North Coast of Tasmania from the far North-West tip of Tasmania to the far North-East tip. The loss of habit was putting the birds in danger, in particular the number of breeding burrows was reducing quickly. After a deal of experimentation, artificial burrows were constructed. A frame of chicken wire was shaped and then sprayed with small aggregate concrete. The burrows were then placed on the coastline, some fully exposed and other hidden in low coastal shrubs. The penguins took to the burrows very quickly and the birds are now breeding very successfully. The photos added to the Gallery are various images of the burrows in different locations. Mrs y'stassie is photographed with a pair of burrows out in the open. During our visit, we could hear many chicks and even saw a couple. Thanks Tanso for an interesting cache.

Stumbled upon these one month ago during our adventure to find the final of a nearby puzzle series.
A collection of redundant concrete well liners stacked in an abandoned quarry.
Also what remains of a building's foundation and a stairway to nowhere.
A favourite haunt of mountain bikers and graffiti artists.
Quite a surreal area. CoolClan Phoenix

Mining Museum, Cracow, QLD

Cracow is referred to as a ghost town & most interesting to visit. I saw this unusual concreted display beside the road so took a few photos. The Cracow Gold`Mine which saw the formation of the town has been reopened & the display is sponsored by the mining company. It represents the three historical phases of drilling holes for explosives. A mining machine (Machine & airleg) has been donated, covered in chicken wire, reinforced & sprayed with concrete by Freddie Dodd, a shotcreter, using a Piccola shotcreting machine donated by BASF Australia.
