DNF at 12.40pm. Too many places to look for a difficulty of 1.0 while an owner was doing some maintenance outside his home.
Marco is in Darwin for work, so I flew up for the long weekend so we could find some Darwin caches. This one took us quite a while to find mainly due to so many passing muggles out for a walk but also due to there being so many possible hiding places. When we eventually found the cache the log was soaking wet and rotten - we were unable to sign the log at all, so we put our sticker on the lid. TNLNSL TFTC
The resdidents of the nearby dwelling were up and about and I could here the distinct sound of breakfast dished. I figured that meant they were otherwise occupied and moved in for the hunt. The cache was not going to reveal itself easily and I wandered up and down a few times before striking it lucky;.. When I opened the container, I was unable to sign the log as the cache was drowning in water. I poured the contents out and rubbed them on the grass to dry them out as best I could. I left the container upside down for a minute or so as well. THis will need a little attention gibbo003 as the log is unusable and won't dry out in a usable fashion...
Nice spot down though, thanks for bringing me here.

The residents with an uninterupted view of the cache were on their balcony so maybe next time. Thanks anyway gibbo003.
i dont know why i didnt find this the first time, walked right up to it this time.lol
this one will need checking on before the wet sets in, as the cache is cracked and getting water in it. i didnt have anything with me to replace it.

Found on our second visit mainly because of a hint from the owner that we shouldn't be admiring the sea view while looking for the cache. This at least had us searching on the right side of the track - didn't take too long. TNLN. Thanks gibbo003
A nice easy find for the youngest geodaughter. Glad she found though, as the rest of the clan was searching in all the wrong places.

Swanee found this one after 20 min of serching.Container needs replacing log book wet.
Too clever for me too, I'm afraid - if indeed still there [?] I felt somewhat exposed as there was a muggle nearby in a car who just wouldn't go away [:(!] I trust that the cache isn't hiding in rocks - too many to contemplate. TFTH
too clever for me today
enjoyed the walk along the pathway , in fact found the whole area very interesting, I saw another side of Darwin.

A great view of the city. I arrived at low tide. I wish I had my camera with me. TFTC!
Found after a few frustrating minutes aerching!!! Nice Hide. cache needs maintenance as the top is cracked and letting in water! TFTC TNLN SL
That was a good find today while visiting Darwin and surrounds.
Thanks for the cache and showing the area.

Back and forth on this one, as well as peak muggle time, but eventually did the stealth and retrieved it. The cache was not sealed, and full of orange gooey water, but the log was well sealed and dry. TFTC
Had to search round a bit... thanks to the thoughtful geo-hunter who dropped a biro (a Papermate Kilometrico) which gave us the much-needed clue to the GZ.
TN, LN. Thanks, gibbo003

Quickly located, but the given hint almost misled us. Found approx 2m from path. Took coin. TFTC
Found this on and droped off coin in the morning. looks like coin was picked up same day and logged. thanks for the cache
After a fair bit of hunting around this one was found. Surprising for a Saturday it was very quiet in this area.

Finally found it, 3rd attempt, this is a fairly busy thoroughfare. Thanks for the extra tip from Bommy. TNLN TFTC
[Hey, It's rancon89.
Some fellow geocachers and I found the "Mangrove City" cache. It took us two tries but we found it.]
It's in the rocks near the houses.

A place familiar from birdwatching last time I was here. Rock hides like this can be problematic, but it turned out OK. I got to my gz, saw something likely, and it was there. Another nice spot, gibbo003.
No mojo with this cacher. There was a home handy man cutting tile in the back yard near by, plus the sounds of a TV just behind, I chose not to lurk about and moved on.
DNF for me, I'm afraid! I was a little self conscious with the city looming nearby (but didn't see any muggles). I just have to find it next time! Thanks gibbo003!
Glad I checked my logs after I got back from the trip.
Had this one as found and I know I didnt.
I am never really good with these type of caches and today was no exception to the rule.
There were some people on a balcony close by. I have had one nasty experience with a bloke accusing me and another cacher of peeping so I left it.
Enjoyed the view though.

REALLY NEEDED the insect repellent - which we didn't think to take. Left a keyring. Took nothing.
Found by Tia in company with Hefalumps and shadowrangers. Have looked for this before and only missed it by inches. thanks for the hunt took ring left bead bookmark
Aaaaahhh finally found it - almost give up. Thanks Gibbo for give me the hint. SL. Thanks Gibbo003 for organising the cache and hunt.
"Not where you would first expect it to be" I was search at wrong side ooooopppsss.

Parked in the shopping centre car park (although I didn't the shops) and made my way to the pathway. Managed to come on to it just near GZ and after a few minutes had the cache in had.
Sat a little furhter down the path to signed the log and then replaced the cache in the same place, covered by the same rocks. All good for the hunters.
TNLN & TFTC.
Cheers.

We disturbed a bush turkey digging around GZ, but he was the only one here (apart from all the migies!). Turned over a few rocks before we spotted the cache. Nice area.
Thanks, Robmc.
Thanks, Robmc.
This was our second attempt at this one as had to leave the area last time due to large amount of muggle activity. Choose a better time today and came up with the goods. T australian Military Forces badge and L Ring. TFTC
You are so right - there are lots of bitey bugs around here. Signed log and left the bugs behind. Cheers and thanks.
Need to upgrade the difficulty rating or leave a tell tail, with so many rocks I think I was just very lucky to find this one before the midgies drove us away. TNLN, enjoyed the view across to the city and moved on quickly. Thanks Gibbo for showing us another new aspect of Darwin.
On our holidays, partly travelling in a Britz campervan through the upper half of the Northern Territory, we tried to log as many of the caches on the way. With the use of a PDA with iGo and the caches loaded as POIs, driving to the cache locations has become quite easy. In total, we visited 61 cache sites and of all these sites, we found 41 caches. Certainly not a perfect score, but we usually enjoyed the location the owner of the cache has chosen. Geocaching brought us to the usual popular tourist locations, but also on some places that we would have otherwise never stopped or driven through.
This log-entry is the 49th cache on our tour.
Even though there were plenty of places to hide the cache, the hint helped to narrow it down a bit. Still a little bit of walking up and down, but didn’t take long to find it. I really enjoyed the view on the skyline of Darwin.

Nice easy find, not the best view at low tide, will have to come back at high tide to take photos

Pneumatophores
Pneumatophores are erect roots that are some form of upward appendage or extension of the underground root system. Because these roots are exposed at least part of the day and not submerged underwater, the root system can obtain oxygen in an otherwise anaerobic substrate.
Breathing Roots
An aerial root may be defined as a root which, for part of the day at least, is exposed to the air. The mangrove mud is rather anaerobic (oxygen poor) and unstable and different plants have root adaptations to cope with these conditions.

I hate rocks. I much prefer the ferns. So many to choose from. At at least there were no pneumatophores.
The question is did the boys complete their ramp before they were scared off?
Clear skies, TeamAstro.
Also saw the snake skin and would not like to meet up with the owner. I went down mid afternoon and still had to contend with the midgies (they dont call it Mosquito Haven for nothing). Still a nice cache location and relatively easy find.

Plenty of hiding places around here. Went late in the afternoon and was still savaged by mozzies. Lucky I didn't see the snake that shed it's skin near the cache.

Hunting by torch light with a zillion midgees was turning out to be less than romantic. Found cache purely by accident when waiting for muggles to pass. Swapped Geocoins.
Couldn't find this one, need to come back with some insect repellent. Even early morning there are a lot of sand flies etc
